Conceived in the late1980's by
Jim Musser, an
automotive and race engineer with extensive
background, the SportCycle has finally become a
reality.
For a number of years Jim had pondered how to
design a street vehicle that would have race
car handling and super bike performance at a
price most anyone could afford. By necessity
the vehicle would need to be small and light.
It would have to utilize a
readily available engine and drive train.
Motorcycle engines are highly sophisticated,
rivaling the best race car engines in terms of
output versus weight and size. If the
vehicle is light enough there would be ample
power especially if one of the larger bike
engines was selected. A three-wheeled
configuration obviously reduces weight and
cost.
