TubeMogul Launches Brand Lift Measurement Tools from Beet.TV. Like this? Watch the latest episode of Beet.TV on Blip! http://blip.tv/beettv/watch In an effort to better track brand lift from digital video ads, TubeMogul is launching brand measurement capabilities in its online video ad buying platform. Beet.TV spoke to TubeMogulapos;s Keith Eadie, VP of Marketing, for insight into how the new capabilities can be used by marketers. Digital advertising has always been good at tracking precise metrics such as completed views with video ads, but most brands turn to online video for brand-building and thus want different metrics, explains Eadie in this video interview. In most cases, they rely on post-campaign surveys to study brand lift from video ads. The TubeMogul BrandSights tool lets marketers set up brand surveys from the get-go when they launch their campaigns, he says. As an example, a marketer could build out a survey when a campaign begins, and TubeMogulapos;s platform will serve up a retargeted display ad later in the same week to a viewer who had already seen the video ad. The banner ad would ask the viewer survey questions about brand awareness and perception, and then compare the answers to those of viewers who didnapos;t see the ad, for instance, Eadie tells Beet.TV. The survey questions can be targeted by audience, geography, Web site and more, he says. Eadie adds that a movie studio tested the tool and learned that intent to see one of its films wasnapos;t high in New York, so the studio was able to tweak is marketing in that area before the release. Period. And he has the numbers to back it up; in a food item campaign Vizu analyzed, pre-roll had six times the brand lift of display advertising. Vizu's Ad Catalyst measurement system, which Beltramo speaks about in the first segment of this interview, measures brand lift online. The lack of analytics for brand advertising online has long been an obstacle for more ad spending, so we're pretty excited about this start-up. In the segment, Beltramo shares his online video forecast for 2009. "The people with the lowest quality content and the lowest quality advertising experience are going to suffer the most," he says. Brand Content Needs Brand Involvement: Vice's Williamson
There's a reason it's called "brand content". While one of the publishers most commonly associated with the practice is certainly skilled at creating its own content, it says the involvement of paying sponsors is critical. Vice Media ad sales SVP Dawn Williamson says those campaigns don't just look better; they perform better, too. "We often do brand studies associated with programmes that we do and what we found is, when Vice creates the creative in conjunction with our partners, the lift of the brand usage is much greater," she tells Beet.TV in this video interview. "The brand lift awareness is there. "So it's about really leveraging our ability to get the message across for an advertiser in an impactful way, and we've done research to make sure that that's an attribution tied to those custom-created units." Vice Media sponsored content includes that from Warner Bros, promoting the movie Kong: Skull Island, and Nike, with a short documentary film on 15 Years Of SB Dunk. Williamson says a favorite example is Smirnoff's Equalizing Music campaign, an effort to double the number of female headliners at electronic music festivals. "We worked in tandem with Smirnoff, with this insight, to create a whole programme to elevate awareness of that and build the headliner base of females in electronic music," she says. Eyeview Personalized Video Ads Drive Brand Lift, Purchase Intent Video ad targeting firm Eyeview is delivering double-digit boosts in brand lift, brand awareness and, purchase intent with its targeted personalized ads for brands such as Ace Hardware, Capital One, Alfa Romeo and Hotels.com. Beet.TV recently caught up with the company's Co-Founder Tal Riesenfeld for more insight on how Eyeview's targeting tools are working for brands.For Ace Hardware, as an example, Eyeview generated ads personalized with local store information as well as "countdown" ads before a sale began, he explains to Beet.TV. Those spots ran online, as well as on mobile phones. For a recent Capital One campaign, Eyeview delivered increased click-through rates with localized calls-for-action ads that generated a 26% brand lift, he says in this video interview. In many campaigns, Eyeview will run brand surveys to measure the responsiveness of consumers. "We generate thousands of versions of ads and deliver the right ad to the right person on mobile, connected TV, and online," Riesenfeld says.We interviewed Riesenfeld at the recent VideoNuze conference.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer person... In the latest 10-second free varifocal lenses advert from Specsavers, 'Lift' sees an arrogant City-type get his newspaper caught in lift doors as he stretches his arms to read it. Written by Specsavers creatives Aaron Scoones (copywriter) and Michael Hutchinson (art director), the advert was directed by Another Film Company's Jeff Stark -- a creative and director well known and respected by the advertising community. It was directed in a quirky and comic way, in keeping Specsavers' well-known brand of humour. The ad was also filmed in a contemporary style so as to capitalize on society's current feelings surrounding high-powered bankers. Another 10-second spot from Specsavers, 'Long Arms', which sees a man have his arms surgically lengthened so he can read a newspaper, will run at the same time. They are part of a campaign to target over-45s with our varifocals promotion and it breaks across national TV from 3rd April 2011. Graham Daldry, creative director of Specsavers Creative, said: 'These ads are a good example of how we can target 'Should've' to a specific message and market. Everyone over 45 knows that you either need longer arms or glasses. The ads are quick and to the point. And Jeff Stark has done a great job of telling the story simply and with charm.' Specsavers Creative is the UK's most respected in-house advertising department, with awards and nominations from the likes of Cannes Lion, D&AD and Epica. To start, make sure the car is on level ground. 2. Apply the parking brake, and place wheel chocks to ensure the car doesn’t roll. Block the rear wheels when lifting the front, and block the front wheels when lifting the rear. 3. Next you’ll need to locate the jacking points; some cars will have one at the front and one in the back. If they don’t, nearly all cars will have jacking points behind each of the front wheels, and in front of each of the rear wheels. You can refer to your owners manual to locate the jacking points. 4. First we’re going to lift the front of the car onto jack stands. If you have a front jacking point, use this, if not you can use the rear jacking points, and slide a jack stand under each side of the front of the car once it’s high enough. This will require jacking both sides of the car, to get both front jack stands underneath. Place jack stands underneath each of the jacking points on the sides up front, and lower the car down onto the jack stands. Remember, you may not want to jack the car to the full desired height; I will be starting at the lowest jack setting because I still need to be able to access the rear jacking point, and I also don’t want to have the jack stands tip over. 5. Now bring the floor jack to the rear of the car, and lift it via the rear jacking point. In this case we’re lifting by the rear differential; often times you can find a tow hook, which can also serve as a jacking point. It’s a good idea to throw a shop rag on top of the jack to ensure that you don’t scratch up the differential casing. 6. Lift up the rear of the car, place the jack stands underneath, and lower the car down onto them. Ideally you want all of the jack stands at the same height, so that the car is level. 7. If you need to raise the vehicle further, do so by incrementally lifting the front and rear to your desired lift height. You simply want to be careful to ensure that the car doesn’t cause the jack stands to tip over. 8. Once you’ve got the car level and all the jack stands adjusted appropriately, give the car a bit of a shake to make sure it’s safe to get underneath. Since I’m paranoid and also enjoy living, I like to place wood blocks underneath each of the wheels as an extra precaution. 9. Now this obviously isn’t necessary if you plan on removing the wheels, and in that case you typically will want to slightly loosen the lug nuts before lifting the vehicle, unless you have an impact wrench available to use. After opening the season 5-0, Brewster faced their toughest test when they faced Lee (from Maine) in a home game. Both teams were held under 70 points and it was a single-digit contest in the final minute. In the end, the balanced Brewster squad's depth proved too much for Lee. Jalen Lecque threw down 2 of his most electrifying dunks to date this season (though it's early)! Alonzo Gafney and Anthony Walker played well around the rim at both ends.
