How Do I Pack for a Business Trip?

02:45
Hello I’m Alan Whitfield with Harry Rosen. We often get asked about how to pack for a 2 to 3 day business trip. With a little planning you can travel light, especially if you take advantage of your hotel laundry service. Last minute packing generally leads to overpacking and wrinkled clothes. Instead take a moment to study your agenda to determine how many meetings and social occasions you expect to have. What we have laid out here represents a typical wardrobe for 2 to 3 days, assuming you’re also wearing an outfit on the plane. You’ll notice that all of these items can be coordinated with each other. The jacket and trousers can be dressed up or down. No one wants to check luggage. A good carry on and sturdy garment bag like these will carry everything you need. The hanger on a garment bag can take up to three pairs of trousers if your trip requires a longer stay. Place your jacket on top, cover it in dry-cleaner’s plastic, and push out any big air bubbles to prevent wrinkles. If a longer stay is requires you can layer on another jacket and more dry cleaner plastic. The first items in your carry on should be your shoes. Pack them heel down evenly across the floor of the bag to provide a good foundation for the rest of your items. Use the belts and socks as shoe trees to support your shoe’s shape. Use your shoes’ duster bags to protect your shoes and keep your other clothes clean. Now, fill in the gaps with your sunglass case, rolled underwear, t-shirts, and sweatshirt & pants. Try to make the base as flat and even as possible. You can either roll your ties and pack them into the gaps or fold them in four and insert them into the inside pocket of your jacket. Avoid placing them between shoes so that they don’t get pinched and wrinkled along the way. Overtop place your knits and shirts folded from the launderer. Plan on wearing your overcoat on the plane to avoid unnecessary weight on your dress shirts. One of the key tricks to wrinkle free packing is to make sure you unpack and hang everything the moment you arrive at your hotel. If you’re room’s not ready ask the concierge to hang your garment bag for you. You’re all ready to go. Thank you and safe travels.

I TRAVEL A LOT - some for pleasure, but mostly for work. Last year, since my job requires about 25% of travel, I flew over 50K+ air miles! Some people have asked me what work travel is like, so I documented a recent work trip to Denver, CO. There are ups and downs of traveling for work, but overall I enjoy travel since I get to interact with a good amount of people (plus get to sometimes explore new areas). How To Pack A Carry-On Suitcase For A Short Business Trip - Packing Tips & Hacks From a Travel Pro

07:44
Pack your carry on like a PRO: https://gentl.mn/how-to-pack-a-carry-on Travelling for a longer period of time? https://gentl.mn/2Dq8tpF SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Two-Tone Knit Tie in Black and Magenta Pink Changeant Silk - https://gentl.mn/2kBW7VE 2. Burgundy Silk Pocket Square with little Paisley Motifs - https://gentl.mn/2yVfdbF 3. Blue Socks with Red and White Clocks - https://gentl.mn/2ycUuT8 First of all, if you go with air travel, I suggest you go with a spinner suitcase with nice wheels that roll very easily so you can maneuver it very easily, but it should also be stable so you can put a little briefcase or another carry-on item on top of it while you walk with it. Packing a small carry-on suitcase is very different from packing a larger spinner suitcase, so if you want to see how a larger one is packed please check out this video here. So how do you pack a small carry-on suitcase? First of all, put out all the items you want to bring on your trip onto your bed or maybe on the floor if the bed is not large enough. Remove all excessive items and only bring the bare bones you really actually need. If it's just a one-day business trip, you simply need one pair of shoes, and I simply suggest to wear it. If it's a two or three-day business trip, you want to bring another pair of shoes but that's it. I always suggest to go with black cap toe Oxfords, maybe Balmoral ones that add a little decoration, if you have very big feet, maybe a derby shoe is the way to go. First, let's start with the pants. You want to fold them in thirds because that way, it fits into your suitcase. lay that on the flat side of your carry-on suitcase. In this video, I'm using a small houndstooth suit simply so you can see better how I fold it. If you got a business trip, probably a solid navy suit, or charcoal, or light gray, or gray suit, are the better way to go. Second, if you have a three-piece suit with the vest, you simply take the vest, fold it in half and make sure the top ends align, as well as the bottom tips of the waistcoat, then you simply just roll it up. Again, you have a nice little fabric roll, now put the roll aside. Now, it’s time for the jacket. Take the left sleeve and pull it inside out, make sure to pull it all the way through. Now on that same sleeve, go to the shoulder and push it, and fold it inside out, this creates the perfect shape and it fits right into the opposite shoulder that wasn't folded. We do this to protect the shoulder so doesn't get crushed and wrinkled. Now take the rolled-up waistcoat, and stuff it into the shoulder area so it gives it additional support and prevents it from wrinkling. Now you fold up the jacket so it lays neatly in the case on top of the pants. Usually, there's a little gap on top of the shoulder, I use that to roll up some ties and ideally, knit ties because they're less prone to getting wrinkles. Now, it's time to close that compartment and let's look at the other side of the suitcase. The socks, underwear, and undershirt, that didn't fit into my shoes now go in between the telescope mechanism so we create a somewhat flat surface. I put in the shoes sideways so they use up as little space as possible. Maybe if you want to bring a sweater or a cardigan, now is the time to put it in here. If you want to bring a long sleeve polo shirt for a casual evening outing, I usually roll it rather than folding it because a. it's quicker, b. it saves me space and c. it's not prone to wrinkling as much as let's say a dress shirt. If you want to bring any other folded items such as a t-shirt, an undershirt, I would roll those as well. Once you've put all the things in, it's time to fill the gaps. Maybe you want to bring suspenders, they should be rolled up and you can stuff them in a gap. Usually, somewhere around the shoes, with a belt, you can also roll it up but if you don't have enough space anymore, you can simply unroll it and lay it around the edges, that way, you'll maybe fit even more things into your suitcase. #howtopackacarryon #travel #howtopack -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Travel Tips From Master Traveler: Richard Fowler

1. Eat Whole Foods You probably wouldn't grab a bag of chips and soda and call it breakfast if you're at home - so don't do it on the road. "At the airport, at the hotel, there is always an apple," says Shankman, who now brings almonds to pair with the fruit and passes up airline food altogether. Whole foods like fruit and nuts are full of fiber. That keeps you feeling full longer, so you'll eat less. 2. Stay Hydrated Instead of dehydrating alcohol and caffeine, try to stick to water when flying, says Yale University nutritionist Lisa T. Kimmel, MS, RD, CSSD. "Low humidity and recirculating air within the cabin are a set-up for dehydration, which can worsen jet lag and cause fatigue. A good rule of thumb is to drink 8 ounces of water every hour of the flight," says Kimmel. 3. Multitask Your Workout Workout and sightsee at the same time. "Running or walking is a great way to see a new place and get outdoors," says Sarah Lorge Butler, a fellow MoneyWatch contributor and author of Run Your Butt Off! Don't want to make room in your carry-on? Westin hotels now lend guests running shoes. 4. Don't Count on the Gym If it's raining and your hotel doesn't have a gym, that's no excuse to fall off the workout wagon, says Hollywood trainer Gunnar Peterson. He advises his jet-setting clients to pack a jump rope that can be used both in the traditional way and as a stretching aid. Another hotel-room friendly exercise? Push-ups. Peterson suggests doing 10-15 reps with your feet on your bed and your hands on the floor, and another set with your hands on your bed and your feet on the floor. For a guided workout, download one to your laptop before you leave and you'll be set, whatever the weather. 5. Stick To Your Regular Eating Schedule Planning ahead will keep you from ditching your diet later. "Don't skip breakfast. Schedule a wake up call to make sure that you take time to eat so that you don't overcompensate with big portions as the day goes on," says Kimmel. 6. Stay Active at the Airport If you get to the airport early, resist the urge to immediately plop down into a chair at the gate (they're not comfortable anyway, so this shouldn't be too hard). Window shop until you board, and you'll burn both calories and time. "I never take the moving walkways at an airport," says Butler. "Geez Louise, people - just drag your wheelie behind you and move your tush a little before you settle into that airplane seat!" 7. Remember That Calories Count, Even Midair Sure, you can ask for a low-fat, low-sodium meal if your airline offers them. But bringing your own food is better. "A few of my picks: homemade trail mix with whole grain cereal, dried fruit, peanut butter and jelly or honey on whole grain bread, whole wheat crackers with nut butter, or raw veggies," suggests Kimmel. 8. Make Cocktail Hour About Networking, Not Drinking Whether you're partaking in a conference's happy hour or sipping martinis with a business associate at a hotel bar, alcohol calories can add up quickly. Even worse, drinking too much will cloud your judgment when you order dinner (as well as when you're making business decisions). "Get one drink at the very beginning with lots of ice and nurse it all night," says Shankman. "Or get club soda with lime. Everybody thinks it is vodka."
