Milan: The Capital Of Fashion And Design - Italy | FashionTV - FTV.com
http://www.youtube.com/fashiontv MILAN - No one would be surprised to know that Milan is known as the capital of fashion and design. Perhaps this is best exemplified by the Armani/Casa display which is the Armani brand's collection of high-end mahogany furniture. Armani head Giorgio Armani makes an appearance as does fashion journalist Stefan Tonchi, the Editor-in-Chief of high fashion glossie W Magazine. The Versace Home display is filled with colorful cabinets and countertops, hued chairs, and the signature Versace log on vases and couch coverings. Missoni's signature prints are displayed on chairs and tables for their home collection. Rosita Missoni calls Milan a young, interesting city, as vibrant as the pillowcases created by her name brand. Other home design collections on display include Prada, Pucci, MaxMara's Bodum. Don't forget Mercedes-Benz, which shows off some of its most luxurious brand name cars. Prada | Fashion Designers
Watch more Fashion Designers and Fashion Brands videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500160-Prada-Fashion-Designers The luxury goods company, Prada, started out in Milan in 1913 as Fratelli Prada with Mario Prada at the helm. Prada became known for a particularly luxurious traveling case that was all fitted out with crystal bottles, so that the traveler could fill them with cosmetics, et cetera. Luggage was much more structured then. People had big trunks with hangers and drawers and, also, people to help them move their luggage around. The Prada business grew rapidly. They even got a commission from the Italian Royal Family to make special, matched set of luggage. Mario Prada became a specialist in the exotic leathers like walrus, and ostrich, and alligator and began importing a lot to international clients. Prada has continued to develop as a prestigious company through the years. It now offers ready to wear, leather goods and fragrances. One of the important things to remember is that it's been a family run company ever since its beginning.

Shopping in Milan 2017 - where to shop in Milan - Brera District
Tracy Gold is shopping in Milan for a few days. In this video she shows you where to shop in the Brera district.***** Meet Tracy in Milan/ Rome for your own Italian Style Makeover https://goo.gl/bcYBWe Subscribe to my channel https://goo.gl/wSXFlV Visit website http://tracygoldfashiontips.com Follow me on Instagram https://goo.gl/QHy3Qt About the video: The best way to get to the main part of Brera is by train. Take the Garibaldi station. From there you can walk into Corso Como where the famous concept store, 10 Corso Como, resides. They sell high price items at about €1000 per item. There are also some interesting stores in this square. For example, Roberto sells cashmere scarves at a reasonable price. Follow via Garibaldi into the quiter part of town. Here you will find some vintage and interesting stores offering Italian designed and made clothing, jewellery and accessories. For example, Gum handbags and Vitti Ferria Contin jewelery store. I found a market in Via San Marco that is open on Thursdays and Sundays. It has fresh local produce, designer brands for lower prices, vintage handbags and cashmere scarves. Italian/Eng/Nat The fashion crowd has descended on Italy's clothing capital - Milan - for the autumn- winter (fall-winter) 1997-98 preview shows - only to find spring bursting out all over. Instead of the fog that usually shrouds the city, the sun shone brightly Monday and temperatures hit a balmy 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit). Nevertheless it was a colder climate which was foremost in the minds of the fashion followers. It was just as well Milan was warm Monday, as Rushdi Malhas kicked-off the day's parades. The 32-year-old Saudi Arabian designer's creations began the day with a glimpse of what autumn-winter clothes may be like in warmer climes - figure-hugging garments in the colours of the desert night. With many of his models sporting body tattoos , Malhas showed off some of his traditionally-based Arab patterns, adapted for bikinis. SOUNDBITE: (English) "I really think fashion is a mood - everybody tries to dress up depending on his mood and his day. You wake up one day and you feel like wearing black and another day you feel like wearing colours because you're happy and things like this." SUPER CAPTION: Rushdi Malhas, Designer Then it was the turn of Giuliana Teso and her ready-to-wear collection in wool, tweed and velvet, with colours based on nature. The fall-winter 1997-1998 showings begin with labels generally not well known to a global audience, but they will culminate Sunday with Giorgio Armani, who put Italian ready-to-wear on the signature fashion map two decades ago. Other members of the "moda Milanese" will include Versace, Ferre, Fendi, Missoni and Moschino. The showings picked-up with the Erreuno and Soprani collections. Close fitting suits; infinite coats; tapered pants. Erreuno's house designer, Graziella Ronchi, says that this collection is a return to the label's original design philosophy - very simple and very chic. It follows a more experimental period which is said to have not found favour with the company's owners. If you follow Luciano Soprani's fashion hints, the big overcoat will be resurrected next season - but jackets will be small and unassertive. He says it's time for extra-long shirts; trouser suits, and long flowing dresses with draw- string waists. SOUNDBITE: (Italian) "Fashion is finally going towards a liberation of women and a new education in dressing - after all these years of total disregard of fashion during which we haven't seen any real dresses anymore - just other things." SUPER CAPTION: Luciano Soprani, Designer This winter fashion season is the longest - nine days - and the most packed in Italian history. In all, 104 shows are scheduled, in addition to evenings of art shows, photographic exhibitions, cocktail parties and dinners. English/Nat Leading knitwear designers Missoni has shown their designs at Milan's autumn-winter 1996-97 collections. The collection features figure-hugging patterned and textured designs. The Missoni family were responsible for making Milan the fashion capital of Italy after moving their collections from Florence. Today their unique knitwear is recognised around the world. The latest collection includes long figure-hugging striped dresses and coats. Autumnal browns, reds and yellows featured heavily, as did texture. SOUNDBITE: The novelty is that the patterns are very few, very controlled either they're very tiny or when they are there they are huge. So you have a plaid that is really plaid, a kind of curly fur which is very very rich and colourful, and one main jacard which is using different proportion and it's an important jacard - it's a kind of flower-shaped patchwork. SUPERCAPTION: Designer Rosita Missoni This season's fashion schedule is longer and more packed than ever. More than 60 ready-to-wear designers have been and will be presenting their latest styles during Milan's fashion week which ends Friday with Georgio Armani. 5 Tips to dressing with Italian style
Tracy Gold gives you tips on how to dress with Italian style when visiting Italy.****** For details on Italian Style Makeovers click here https://goo.gl/bcYBWe Subscribe to channel https://goo.gl/wSXFlV Visit website http://tracygoldfashiontips.com/ Follow me on Instagram https://goo.gl/QHy3Qt Details for Italian Style Makeover click here https://goo.gl/bcYBWe About the video: Having spent some time in Italy, I was inspired by their amazing sense of style. They are known for dressing well and doing so with such confidence. Here are my top tips to dressing with Italian style… yourself. 1. The Italians are stylishly understated. The look is simple, but well put together. You can create this look by choosing one statement piece that has the wow factor and then keeping the rest of your outfit fairly simple. For example, wear a decorative jacket and pair it with jeans and boots or wear a bold colour scarf with an otherwise neutral outfit. 2. The Italians place more importance on personal style rather than the latest trends. Don’t get me wrong, they are aware of the latest trends, they are just not slaves to them. Above all, Italians wear what suits them. You can create this look by choosing a few key fashionable pieces that will update your existing wardrobe and reflect your personal style. For example, this red leather biker jacket that I bought in Milan is a trendy piece, but it works so well with my existing wardrobe and personal style. 3. Italian women know how to create a sensual look without showing too much skin. You won’t see many super wearing super short, tight skirts or plunging necklines revealing cleavage. You can create this look yourself by showing skin selectively. Either show a bit of leg and keep the neckline covered or show a bit of neckline and keep your legs covered. 4. The Italians understand that fitted clothing works better for their body shapes, than baggy clothing. Be prepared in invest in key pieces that fit you well and suit your shape, but that doesn’t have to mean paying big money for designer brands. You could find you your perfect fit on high street or in vintage stores. Either way, learn what suits your shape and only buy what really works for you. 5. Wear stylish flats Italian women walk a lot, especially in the big cities. There is no time for hobbling around in stilettos. This means they need to be comfortable, but they never forget style. Wearing flats doesn’t have to mean looking dowdy. It all depends on the style of flat shoes you wear, what you wear with them and that you wear them with confidence. The story of the House of Gucci. They mastered the art of branding, line extensions, retail experiences, and product licensing strategies. Italian designers have sailed forth from their native shores like the explorers of old to conquer much of the new world with their coveted treasures and shiny retail palazzos. They have infiltrated the dream factories of Hollywood and now their names are as ubiquitous on the red carpets as on the Milan runways. Born from humble beginnings in Florence’s 1921, Gucci’s first incarnation was a small, family-owned saddlery shop. Its focus was on leather goods for the fine horseman: saddles, boots gloves and saddlebags. Founder Guccio Gucci (1881-1953) was inspired by the luxurious luggage of travelling Parisians whilst living abroad and soon turned the business’s attention to fine leather goods with classic styling. Although Gucci organised his workrooms for industrial methods of production, he maintained traditional aspects of fabrication. Initially, Gucci employed skilled workers in basic Florentine leather crafts, attentive to finishing. With expansion, machine stitching was a production method that supported construction. The 20th anniversary of the death of Italian designer Gianni Versace
(14 Jul 2017) THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DEATH OF ITALIAN DESIGNER GIANNI VERSACE This weekend marks the 20th anniversary of the death of fashion designer Gianni Versace. Versace, who built his fashion empire from his studio in the center of Milan, was gunned down outside his oceanfront mansion in Miami Beach, Florida, on 15 July 1997 by Andrew Cunanan. Gianni Versace was born on 2 December 1946 in the industrial town of Reggio Calabria in southern Italy. He started designing clothes when he was 22-years-old when a local garment maker hired him to design a collection that was sold in his mother, Francesca Versace's, store. The first Versace boutique was opened in Milan's Via della Spiga in 1978, and its popularity was immediate. His 1982 collection introduced metallic garments that would become his trademark, and his elaborate stage costumes for Elton John in the late '80s helped cement his reputation. Today, Versace is one of the world's leading international fashion houses. I believed in neutral colors.” —Giorgio Armani Synopsis Born on July 11, 1934, in Italy, Giorgio Armani is an iconic clothing designer who has expanded his empire to include restaurants and hotels. His popularity skyrocketed in America in the 1980s when his men's 'power suits' appeared frequently on the television series Miami Vice and in the 1980 film American Gigolo, which starred Richard Gere in Armani's signature garb. Early Life Designer Giorgio Armani was born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, Italy. With his body-conscious yet understated clothing, Giorgio Armani has become one of the most popular names in fashion. He first launched his business empire in the mid-1970s, and it has grown substantially over the years. The Armani brand now includes makeup, housewares, books and hotels. The son of a shipping manager, Armani grew up in a small town outside of Milan. It was a difficult time in Italian history. Giorgio and his two siblings—older brother Sergio and younger sister Rosanna—experienced the hardships of World War II firsthand. Some of his friends were killed during Allied bombings. "We were poor and life was tough," he explained to Harper's Bazaar. "The cinema in Milan was a refuge—a palace of dreams—and the movie stars seemed so glamorous. I fell in love with the idealized beauty of Hollywood stars." At an early age, Armani developed an interest in anatomy, making "dolls out of mud with a coffee bean hidden inside," explained to the Guardian newspaper. His fascination with the human form led to two years of medical study at the University of Piacenza. Taking a break from school, Armani had to complete his required military service. He soon got his first taste of fashion. "I was doing my military service and I had 20 days off on vacation in Milan," he explained to Time magazine. Through a friend, he got a job at a department store. "I started assisting the photographer, designing the windows and things." Early Designs After completing his military service, Armani dropped out of university and went to work at La Rinascente, a famous Milan department store. He then joined the staff of Nino Cerruti as a designer. With the encouragement of his friend Sergio Galeotti, Armani started to do freelance design work for other companies as well. Armani and Galeotti became business partners, founding Giorgio Armani S.p.A. in July 1975. The company's first collection—a men's clothing line—debuted that year. Armani launched a women's collection the following year, which received a warm reception. His clothes were revolutionary at the time, introducing a more natural fit and using a subtle color palette. "My vision was clear: I believed in getting rid of the artifice of clothing. I believed in neutral colors," he later told WWD. High Demand for Armani While his designs were popular in Europe, Armani didn't make a big splash in America until 1980. His clothes were worn by actor Richard Gere in the film American Gigolo (1980), which helped generate a lot of interest in Armani. He also provided much of the wardrobe for the hit television series Miami Vice (1984-89), starring Don Johnson. Soon, many top Hollywood stars started wearing Armani on the red carpet, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Jodie Foster and John Travolta, among others. During the 1980s, wearing Armani became a symbol of success for many business professionals. They especially sought out the brand's "power suits." With demand high, Armani and Galeotti were able to grow the business, opening up Armani stores in Milan. Armani, however, suffered a great personal and professional loss in 1985 when he lost longtime friend and business partner Galeotti to AIDS. While some thought that the business might suffer after Galeotti's death, Armani showed the world that he was just as talented as an executive as he was as a designer.

Intervista Mario Dice - Fashion Designer - Milano Offline

DAY 2 MFW: MEETING ITALIAN DESIGNERS DURING MILAN FASHION WEEK Day 2, we began the day by going to the Modigliani Art Experience at MUDEC. We learned a lot about his life and paintings and got to watch a 360 degree video! The first show of the day was Tiziano Guardini. He has partnered with Mercedes Benz and is all about sustainability. We saw one of his pieces at the Fashioned By Nature exhibit at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London! Next, it was time for lunch at Bar Luce at Fondazione Prada. The Prada show was that afternoon, so unfortunately, we couldn't explore the museum and will have to go back later. For lunch, we had sandwiches and cappuccinos. We HAD to also have dessert, which consisted of tiramisu and hazelnut gelato. After, we went to the Raquel Diniz presentation and were glad to get to meet Raquel. The collection was full of prints and feminine pieces that can seamlessly go from day to night. The next stop was the Luisa Beccaria show at Palazzo Reale. It was outside, so it was VERY HOT, but the collection and show were beyond incredible. The collection was inspired by Alice & Wonderland, so it was a mix between Tim Burton and Harry Potter. The music was just as dramatic as the clothing. We saw the Vogue US team there as well. After, we went to the Attico presentation, which was at a penthouse event space with a 360 degree video of Milan. Next, we stopped by the Sara Battaglia presentation, which is filled with color. She has both RTW and handbags. The last show of the day was Daizy Shely. For dinner, we went to the Bulgari Hotel and sat outside in the garden. We ran into Nicolò Beretta, who is the founder of Giannico and the Creative Director of L'Autre Chose. We are going to his presentation later in the week. We had an absolutely delicious meal of vegetable soup, pasta and got dessert of course! http://www.mudec.it/eng/modigliani-art-experience/ http://tizianoguardini.com https://www.milanomodadonna.it/it/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvtGpqcPQ3QIVLijTCh0yng41EAAYASAAEgLge_D_BwE https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/ https://www.vam.ac.uk http://www.fondazioneprada.org/barluce-en/?lang=en http://www.fondazioneprada.org/?lang=en https://www.raqueldiniz.it http://luisabeccaria.it http://www.theattico.com http://www.sarabattaglia.com https://www.bulgarihotels.com/en_US/milan https://www.lautrechose.com/it/ http://giannicoofficial.com http://www.daizyshely.com https://www.thestylethatbindsus.com/ @thestylethatbindsus @alisonbruhn @deliafolk Contact emails: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Edited by Apto Media email: [email protected]
