People want to know if burpees are the best exercise for getting the job done. Others want to know if battle ropes or even jump rope are better at burning calories and burning fat. While all of them are at the top of the list for the most calories burned on a minute per minute basis, they still are not the best way to lose five pounds of body fat the fastest. In this video, I show you how you can never outtrain a bad diet. If you refuse to pay attention to the quality of your nutrition and the foods you put in your mouth you are never going to have the low levels of body fat that you desire long term. Sure, anyone can follow a short term diet that allows them to lose fat for a few weeks however if you can’t keep it up then you will never be satisfied with your body fat levels over the course of the year. Mistakenly, people look to exercises as the best way to drop body fat. While you definitely need to train, achieving fat loss is and always will be better accomplished via the right nutrition plan. This goes back to the comment about never being able to outtrain a bad diet. You simply cannot make up enough calorie burn via exercise (even the most intense) to overcome bad food choices. For instance, our very own Jesse is a big sugar fanatic and a worshiper of gummy bears. Just 17 measly gummy bears has 150 calories. Even if Jesse were to do 10 minutes straight of high effort high intensity burpees, he would only burn 120 calories and he would lose that battle with a net calorie gain of 30. Now Jesse, being a hardgainer, is not concerned at the moment with his body fat levels. He was the only one wiling to do the burpees while I talked during the video being the good sport that he is. If you are looking to burn 5 lbs of fat however, you need to be sure that you are paying attention to what really matters. Your nutrition will always be at the top of the priority list for getting that job done. Now, does that mean that conditioning exercises like burpees, jump rope, battle ropes and split squat jumps don’t have a place in your workout program if you need to lose fat? Not at all. In fact, with a good nutrition approach in place these exercises become even more effective since they compliment the losses that you are already making because of your improved diet. It’s futile to try and just turn off your cravings as well because, at the end of the day, you can’t treat them like a light switch - there isn’t just an “on” or “off” mode. So, stop playing tug-of-war with your “craving monster,” because you will always lose. As Jonathan mentions - “Drop the rope. Let the monster just exist in your body. He will eventually go away.” Method #2 - 1:17- Utilize nicotine withdrawal products to gradually taper down use like E-cigarettes and vaporizers. A study conducted by the Society for the Study of Addiction found that “Among vapor store customers in the United States who use electronic nicotine delivery devices to stop smoking, vaping longer, using newer-generation devices and using non-tobacco and non-menthol flavored e-liquid appear to be associated with higher rates of smoking cessation.” http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25675943 There’s also: Nicotine gum and nicotine patches designed strategically to decrease your nicotine intake slowly. Method #3 - 2:15 - Handling A Cigarette Craving 5-minutes...Once a craving hits, focus on just making it five minutes, if you can go five minutes, the craving will be reduced a.k.a. Method #4 - 2:40 - What To Do If You End Up Having A Cigarette Don’t finish the pack - throw it away once you regain control. Re-evaluate your plan. Well that's exactly what i want to go over today the 5 biggest & best muscle building tips for beginners & naturals. You might be thinking well who the heck are you to be giving me tips on building muscle & that's a very fair question. Afterall i spend most of the time on this channel talking about fat loss but my experience in fitness is firmly rooted in natural bodybuilding. I took myself from being a chubby teenager with hardly any muscle to a 230 pound fitness model & I did it all naturally. So if you want to learn how to build muscle using steroids there are probably way better sources out there but if you want to learn how to do it naturally give this video a chance because I spent over 10 years focusing on finding the fastest ways to build muscle, & in the process of opening 3 gyms I also prepped a lot of men & women for natural bodybuilding & bikini competitons. So today I want to give you all my most guarded muscle building secrets for free. I'm also going to do my best to make all these tips unique so it's not going to be the same old stuff that you've heard over & over again like simply telling you to eat more protein. With that said let's start with the very first tip which is to incorporate periodization. If done correctly this is one of the most powerful things you can do to improve your muscle strength & size consistently. In a nutshell periodization is the systematic breakdown of your training plan over the course of time & it will include micro meso & macro Cycles. Which will esentially break down your training plan in to weeks months & years. But instead of explaining to you every possible way that you could incorporate different cycles of periodization I'd rather give you guys a simple actionable plan to consistently make progress using the exact periodization strategy that helped me the most. Youre gonna start by finding out what maximal weight load you can lift for each of your compound exercises for roughly 9 to 10 reps. This means that if you select a weight that you can do for 11 reps you should up that weight & the same goes vice versa if you select a weight that's too heavy & you can only do it for 7 reps drop the weight. You're going to stick this rep range for 2 to 3 weeks straight & you're going to try to increase the weight that you're using over the course of these two to three weeks again staying within that 9 to 10 rep range. After those two to three weeks are over you're going to switch to a rep range of 5 to 7 reps. Again find the maximum weight you could do for that rep range which should obviously be more weight than what you were doing for 9 to 10 reps. Now you're going to stick to this new rep range for another two to three weeks once again trying to up the weight whenever you can as long as you stay Within that 5 to 7 rep range. Finally after youre done with those weeks you're going to do a rep range of 3 reps for all those compound exercises again for two to 3 weeks before switching back to the original 9 to 10 rep range. When you come back to the 9 to 10 rep range you'll notice that you were significantly stronger & able to lift more weight. And you just continuously work through these Cycles. Every time you come back to an old rep range you want to try to increase your weight load even if it's by 2.5 lbs. This method helped me break through some of my biggest plateaus that I've experienced with building muscle. Literally do exactly that & I promise you won't be disappointed with your results. Let's move on to the second tip increase meal frequency. Now I know this goes against my typical advice that I give for fat loss. For fat loss meal frequency doesn't matter that much but building muscle requires a lot of calories especially if youre struggling with building muscle you're going to need a lot of food. The only way that you're going to be able to eat enough throughout the day is by eating more often.

When you have low blood sugar there's very little insulin present in your body. On the other hand when you have high blood sugar insulin is running around like crazy storing excess glucose that can't be held by your liver or your muscles as fat. When your blood sugar drops low enough your body releases a hormone known as glucagon. Glucagon has the inverse effect of insulin and that's exactly why it's so important for burning body fat. Now unfortunately there's no way to Target fat burn so burning overall body fat is going to be the best and the most efficient way to burn belly fat. So when we decrease our blood glucose levels insulin levels plummet and glucagon acts to maintain normal blood glucose levels. The first step in doing this is a process known as glycogenolisis where glucagon stimulates the conversion of stored glycogen from the liver to glucose for your bloodstream. Glucagon will also promote the conversion of amino acids to glucose through a process known as gluconeogenesis. And the last and most important thing that it does for losing belly fat is that glucagon acts on adispose tissue to stimulate the breakdown of fat stores into the bloodstream. so the question is how do we decrease insulin levels and increase glucagon levels to prevent us from storing any more fat and instead to help us burn more fat? And the first step is to follow a low-carb diet by eliminating all processed foods simple carbohydrates and sugary beverages and in general limiting all carbs. Now low carb diet is not the only way that you can burn belly fat but it's one of the fastest ways that you can lower your insulin levels in order to burn belly fat. In one study people with metabolic syndrome were randomized to receive either a low-fat or low-carb diet containing 1500 calories. The insulin levels dropped by an average of 50 percent in the low carb group and only 19 percent in the low-fat group even though they had the same amount of calories. Carbohydrates are the most insulinogenic out of the three macronutrients protein carbs and fats. Now in general consuming fewer calories has consistently shown to increase insulin sensitivity and decrease insulin levels in overweight and obese people regardless of the type of diet that they consume. So again even though it's not the only way to do it a low-carb diet can help you deplete the glycogen in your liver and start burning fat faster. Step number two is to try fasting because not eating is by far one of the best ways to keep insulin levels at their lowest. I mean it makes sense if you're not taking it any calories your body is nothing to convert to glucose. Start off with intermittent fasting where you fast for 16 hours a day and only eat during an 8-hour time block of the day. So you might skip breakfast and instead just have lunch and dinner everyday. Fasting definitely works however be warned some people when they break their fast will be so hungry that they drastically overeat and that is going to cause a huge Spike in blood sugar and insulin levels. To the point where it might have not even been so bad if you just didn't fast. So for that reason fasting is not the answer for everyone. If you're the type of person that gets uncontrollably hungry when you fast and then you binge eat after the fast you may be better off spreading out your meals into small portions throughout the day and just sticking to a low-carb diet. However like I said I would definitely give it a shot because there's nothing out there that can lower your insulin levels the way that fasting can. The third step is to begin exercising consistently and regularly. I always like to use the gas tank example with this one imagine that your body's gas tank the fuel that it runs off of is glycogen. And every time you eat your refilling that gas tank. Just by breathing being awake standing sitting even sleeping your body has to use some energy from the gas tank almost like a car that's running while parked. However the amount of energy it uses while parked is not all that much. When you exercise it's like driving your car in that your car begins running off of more gas to get it from point A to point B

And this is proven by science it is true that nobody should be obese however everybody does have their own weight set point people store fat in different places some people store more fat in their stomach area, other people store it more in their thighs, in the chest, and we also have different shapes to our muscle bellies, different lengths different thicknesses, different lagging muscle groups. The point is people really do come in all different shapes and sizes again this doesn't mean that you should be obese but it does mean that we can identify the shape or size that you're at by certain characteristics & apply certain training principles that have proven over time to work to move you towards your desired body shape. Okay so let's start with the test the way that this test works is I'm going to ask you a series of questions & your going to answer a b or c & either write down your answer or remember it because the letter that you answer with most often will help you identify what your body type is by the end of this test. Its a simple test & I'm sure you'll be surprised with the results. First question, do fitted jeans generally feel a. snug, but not too tight around your butt b. loose around your butt or c. tight around your butt. Pick the description that best fits your body Second question, if you wrap your hand around your wrist does your middle finger & your thumb a. just barely touch b. overlap or c. they don't touch. Next question would you characterize yourself as having a. a natural v shaped body b. a naturally very lean skinny long frame, or c. a naturally wide heavy frame. The fourth question requires a measuring tape so if you want to come back to it & leave it blank you can, but I highly recommend you do this one because it's very accurate. Is your chest measurement a. between 37 & 44 inches b. under 37 inches or c. greater than 44 inches? When you get to a measuring tape seriously do this one. The fifth question is how would you rate your metabolism a. fast, but you don't have a problem building muscle, b. so fast that it makes it difficult to put on muscle, or c. slow. Next question In relation to gaining weight its a. easy to gain muscle, but you don't typically gain too much fat. You may even see some ab definition while bukling b. you have trouble gaining muscle & gaining fat, in fact if you finally do gain a couple pounds your body fights to return you to your normal weight or are you more of a c. where its easy for you to put on muscle, but its also very easy for you to store fat especially around your midsection & love handles. Question number seven does your upper body resemble an a. upside down triangle, b. a rectangle that's vertically long & horizontally narrow or c. a square or round shape.two more questions. do you have an a. narrow rib cage thinner than your wider collar bones b. a narrow rib cage as narrow as your narrow collar bones & your narrow hips or c. a thick blocky rib cage as thick as your collar bones & your thick hips. And last question which body type do you look like in the mirror. a.b.or cIf you've answered a. to the majority of the questions you are at the mesomorph stage right now meaning you have a v-taper appearance. If you answered b to the majority of the questions then you are an ectomorph with more of a narrow lanky body, & if you answered c then you are an endomorph with wider thicker body. Now before I go any further I want to say that you are not stuck in your body type. That kind of thinking leads to people giving up & not working as hard at making the necessary changes to change your body type. And then it becomes a self fufilling prophecy. I don't care if you're the hardest gainer in the world, you can eat enough & drink enough soda if that's what it takes to spike your insulin to have you gain some weight. You may always struggle with building more muscle mass, but with enough work ethic & enough food you can achieve a mesomorph looking body. If you're an ectomorph focus on eating a diet high in protein & carbs.

Your body can only build a limited amount of muscle in any given day, and any calories you take in beyond your maximum muscle building capacity for a given time frame will simply be stored as fat. 200-300 calories above maintenance is a good guideline for an effective lean bulk in order to help you build muscle effectively and keep fat gains minimized. Mistake #2: You aren't tracking your calories accurately. In over 10 years of fitness coaching one thing I've learned for certain is that most people are just not very good at accurately tracking their calories. You might THINK you have a moderate surplus in place, but if you're gaining more fat than muscle, chances are that you're consistently exceeding it without realizing it. Conduct a "dietary audit" and go through your entire weekly nutrition plan piece by piece to figure out precisely how much you're consuming to see where you might be making possible errors. Mistake #3: Your weight training plan is ineffective. If your nutrition plan IS on point but you're still gaining fat but not muscle, take a look at your weekly weight training plan and be honest with yourself. Are you truly training with a high level of intensity? Are you focusing on progressive overload, tracking your workouts and getting stronger over time? Are you being consistent with your training sessions? Are you performing enough total volume? Most guys in the gym just plain don't train hard enough, and if you have a calorie surplus in place but a weak growth stimulus because your workout plan is not being carried out properly, you'll end up with only a small amount of muscle gain with the rest of those calories being stored as fat. Mistake #4: You simply have unrealistic expectations. The final possibility to consider is that you're just expecting things to happen too quickly and nothing is actually wrong with your bulking plan at all. Always remember that muscle growth is a very slow and gradual process for a natural bodybuilder, and it takes a few months of proper training and nutrition to see serious visual changes. If you feel like you're gaining fat but not muscle but you've only been training for a few weeks, you probably just need to slow down a bit and have more patience. Since 1980 obesity rates among adults have nearly doubled worldwide, with even faster growth in emerging markets such as Brazil, South Africa, and Mexico. In 2008 one in three adults globally was too fat. a common measure for obesity is a person's body mass index, or BMI, which compares the ratio of weight to height. A 175cm, or 5 foot 9, man weighing more than 77 kilograms or 170 pounds would have a BMI greater than 25, and thus considered overweight. By this measure two-thirds of American adults are overweight and an alarming 36% of adults are not just overweight but obese with a BMI above 30. If current trends continue nearly half of American adults may be obese by 2030. This is bad for health but not all fat is created equal. Most harmful is a plump midsection with visceral fat packed around the organs. This can bring diabetes, heart disease, and other ailments. As people become fatter they are growing sicker. Incidents of diabetes has grown virtually everywhere. Excess fat is blamed for a surge in chronic diseases. 44% of the burden of diabetes, 23% of ischemic heart disease, and as much as 41% of different types of cancer. This is straining healthcare systems. More people are living with ailments brought by obesity, especially in the Middle East and Oceania. And unlike smoking, which kills, obese people are sicker for longer. Some blame the weighty problem on sugary drinks and fast-food restaurants, which have invaded emerging markets.
