This is a very complicated world. It’s a very noisy world. And we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is! And so, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us. Now Apple, fortunately, is one of half-a-dozen best brands in the whole world. Right up there with Nike, Disney, Coke, Sony — it is one of the greats of the greats. Not just in this country, but all around the globe. But even a great brand needs investment and caring if it’s going to retain its relevance and vitality. And the Apple brand has clearly suffered from neglect in this area in the last few years. And we need to bring it back! The way to do that is NOT to talk about speeds and fees. It’s NOT to talk about bits and mega-hertz. It’s NOT to talk about why we are better than Windows. The dairy industry tried for 20 years to convince you that milk was good for you. It’s a lie, but they tried anyway. And the sales were falling. And then they tried “Got milk” and the sales went up. “Got milk” wasn’t even talking about the product. In fact, it focuses on the absence of the product. But the best example of all, and one of the greatest jobs of marketing that the universe has ever seen, is Nike. Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes!!! And yet, when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, as you know, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes. And they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about! Apple spends a fortune on advertising — you’d never know it….you’d never know it! So…when I got here, Apple just fired their agency and there was a competition with 23 agencies that…you know…four years from now we would pick one. And we blew that up and we hired Chiat\Day, the ad agency that I was fortunate enough to work with years ago and created some award winning work including the commercial voted the best ad ever made, 1984 (by Advertising Professionals). And…we started working about eight weeks ago, and the question we asked was, “Our customers want to know who is Apple and what is it that we stand for…where do we fit in this world?” And what we’re about isn’t making boxes for people to get their jobs done — although we do that well. We do that better than almost anybody, in some cases. But Apple is about something more than that! Apple at the core…its core value — is that, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe! And we have had the opportunity to work with people like that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with people like you; with software developers, with customers, who have done it. In some big, and some small ways. And we believe that, in this world, people can change it for the better. And that those people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that actually do! And so, what we’re going to do in our first brand marketing campaign in several years, is to get back to that core value! A lot of things have changed. The market is in a total different place than where it was a decade ago. And Apple is totally different — and Apple’s place in it is totally different. And believe me, the products, and the distribution strategy, and the manufacturing are totally different…and we understand that. But values and core values — those things shouldn’t change. The things that Apple believed in at its core, are the same things Apple really stands for today. Cinesite Studios, “Beans”, also called “Not for Austronauts” or the "Astronaut Ad" from 2013, a mock ad – the non-existent Haynes Baked Beans only resemble Heinz – for the famous visual effects and feature animation studio known for movies like Harry Potter, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, and others whose logo appears at the end. This hillarious commercial is often shown but not always understood. 2. Doritos, "Ultrasound"/“Birth” from the 2016 Super Bowl was a highly controversial, yet extremely funny commercial that still has its fans and opponents 3. Kia niro, “Hero” with Melissa McCarthy from the 2017 Super Bowl, also refered to as “I love Whales!” that got a lot of press and features Bonnie Tyler's “Holding up for a hero” 4. Kia, “The Truth” with Laurence Fishburne as Morpheus from The Matrix, singing Nessun dorma for the Super Bowl 2014 5. Shadow of War, “Not today, Brian” from 2017 for the video game, also known for its line “Nothing will be forgotten” 6. Clash Of Clans, “Revenge” with Liam Neeson as his famous character from Taken for the Super Bowl 2015, also famous for its line “You will regret the day you crossed AngryNeeson52” 9. Old Spice, “Jungle Wilderness” from the 2011 Danger Zone campaign with the famous line “You smell like you look – amazing” (the most amazing thing, though, is the line “Dramatization only. Do not attempt.” in the bottom right corner at 7:21 - who would attempt THAT?) 10. Wix, "Disruptive World" with Gal Gadot, the new Wonder Woman and Jason Statham from The Expandables and Transporter for the cloud-based web development platform for the Super Bowl 2017 in the extended version - with more than 22.6 million views online it was the most-seen commercial before the game. It was was shot by the French Louis Leterrier who directed the Transporter films, Unleashed, The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans and Now You See Me in Barcelona with estimated costs for producing and broadcasting somewhere around 14 millions dollars + 11. And these 2 secrets are… 1) Sales Velocity 2) Conversions These are the 2 key factors the Amazon algorithm uses when choosing which products will sit at the top of their search results (the search engine accounts for 90% of sales on Amazon). Here is what you need to do to launch your first Amazon FBA product and make it a home-run success (even if it’s your first product): You need to match (or ideally improve on) the sales velocity & conversions of your top competitor for 2 weeks. If you do this… then your item will soar to the top of the search results - and YOU’LL start making all of the organic sales for your product! Hack #1 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use product giveaways Product giveaways for your Amazon FBA private label product are one of the most powerful strategies at your disposal for massively increasing your sales velocity & conversions. You can’t give products away for free but you can give people a heavily discounted coupon that lets them buy it for just 99 cents, which means you are basically giving it away for free. And this is simple: Sign up for a service like JumpSend or ZonBlast. These services have a huge membership base of people that are keen to purchase heavily discounted items on Amazon. They will then distribute your coupon to it’s members. Not only will this drastically increase your sales, but the conversions will be high: You can expect around 50%. Hack #4 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Use paid advertising You can place paid ads in the Amazon search engine for your item, targeting specific keywords. When someone buys a product through clicking on it, not only will this increase your sales velocity - but it’ll help your product rank organically for that keyword as well. Hack #5 to launch your first Amazon FBA private label product & make initial sales: Increase the conversions on your listing & get reviews It’s not enough to get the initial sales & conversions from drastically lowering your price: You need to have a high-converting listing so that when you reach the top of the search results you’ll keep making more sales than your competitor, otherwise the Amazon algorithm will drop you in the results. Giving a presentation about a product is an important thing to know how to do because you are likely to use this skill when also talking about yourself or your ideas. The key thing to remember is that you have to focus on benefits to your target audience and not only on the features of the product. For example, if it’s shampoo that doesn’t make you cry, then that is a feature. The benefit is that if you’re a parent, it will be much more comfortable for your child if the shampoo doesn’t sting his or her eyes. (Of course, that no tears shampoo is actually pretty nasty so it’s best to avoid it, but anyway.) This is an extremely lucrative business model, that involves reselling branded products for a profit on Amazon. E-commerce millionaires, Dan and Eric, have used this model to make over $16 million dollars alone on Amazon. The best part? They were able to do all of this: WITHOUT paid ads WITHOUT creating a product WITHOUT dealing with customer service WITHOUT a website or email list To do this, they use a simple 3-step system called “Reverse Wholesale”. Here’s how it works: STEP 1: LOCATE HIGH-PROFIT, HIGH POTENTIAL BRANDED PRODUCTS ON AMAZON This step involves looking for branded products on Amazon that have a HUGE buyer demand, but very bad listings. In essence, your aim is to “refurbish” a product that is ALREADY proven to sell well. By refurbish, we mean improving its images, product title, product description and also features and benefits. When a product that everyone is buying has a poor listing, you now have the opportunity to improve this listing - and make even MORE sales. STEP 2: CREATE A WHOLESALE ACCOUNT The next step is to ask to open a Wholesale Account with the manufacturer of the product you have identified. You do this to gain access to their Wholesale distributor so that you can buy the product at discounted rates and sell them for a profit. However, there is a slight catch: Manufacturers don’t just accept anybody. That’s why you use Dan’s secret method. Instead of trying to lie your way through to opening an account, you take a different approach. You NEGOTIATE. You say, “Hey, I’ll come in, edit your listing and MASSIVELY increase your sales. In exchange, we’ll make a contract, we’ll make a deal. My business, my company, gets the right to buy these products direct from your manufacturer, at wholesale, discounted rates. I will then send these items into Amazon for you, and I will “manage” your listing and grow your sales.” This is a deal that’s hard to turn down. At the end of the day, it is a win-win situation. For you: You get DIRECT access to the manufacturers instead of having to go through the distributor. This means that you can buy items from them in bulk at a MASSIVE discount, allowing you to make more profits on the items you sell! For them: More money! Considering this is a long-term deal, you’re going to make them A LOT more money since you’ll be regularly buying their items in bulk. (Who wouldn’t want that?!) STEP 3: OPTIMIZE THE LISTING, PURCHASE THE PRODUCTS AND MAKE MONEY! The final step involves editing their listing to make it even better. Adding better photos. Adding a great title. Adding a great description - and greatly increasing the conversions and sales. You then buy the product you want to sell at wholesale, discounted rates, then ship them into one of Amazon’s FBA warehouses. Amazon’s FBA warehouses are incredible. They store these items for you. When a customer purchases your item, Amazon will pick, pack and ship this item off to your customer - without you having to even lift a finger. This means you don’t have to do ANY of the heavy lifting. At this point it’s basically a passive source of income. All you have to do is order new products when inventory gets low. It’s upfront work for long-term rewards!
