10 Secret Mistakes Nobody Saw in 'The Lord of the Rings' Trilogy
The Lord of the Rings used many, groundbreaking practical and digital visual effects, in its time. And with there being a total of around 3420 effects shots throughout the trilogy (including the extended cuts), it required the work of around 260 visual effects artists. But with so much work and such huge amounts of detail in the scenes, some small things either get missed, forgotten or just left for people like us to come along and point them all out to you. So that's what we're going to do. Here are 10 Secret Mistakes Nobody Saw in the Lord of the Rings: Number one: Magic Chimneys Take a look at this shot of the city of Edoras, from 'The Return of the King'. Doesn't it look impressive, with that big aerial pan, zooming into the Golden Hall, with its flags, that seem to be moving very oddly... Must be some kinda strange wind or something... But hang on, let's just go back a second, why is the smoke being sucked back into the chimneys? Oh, I know, It's because they've reversed the whole scene! Yep, apparently, they must have decided after filming that they actually wanted to zoom in instead and that "no one will notice if we just reverse the shot". Guess they were wrong. Number two: A Quick Clear up When Bilbo Baggins is having his little birthday bash he decides to give a little speech, isn't that nice. And we can see lots of people standing around tables, a couple of barrels and a very tasty looking birthday cake, nice. But later on, after he does his little disappearing act, we can see everyone running around worrying about his disappearance. But oddly, maybe in their state of panic, they must have also decided to eat the cake and pack away the tables and chairs because they're nowhere to be seen! I'm guessing they left it all at the studio set, where the first scene was filmed and just couldn't be bothered to set it all up again for the outside shots...lazy. Number Three: Orlando Brown In this close up shot of Legolas exiting the mountain in return of the king, he has brown eyes! And it's not even a quick glimpse, it's a close-up! Clearly, someone was trying to save a little too much work. Number Four: Dodgy Tracking In this aerial shot of Edoras, most of the buildings and perimeter wall weren't actually there in real life and were therefore added after filming by digitally mapping them to the scenery. The only problem is they must not have properly locked the wall onto the shot because in the bottom right-hand corner it seems to be just floating in the air. Number Five: Strings Attached Wait a minute, it's a trick, he's not really knocking them into the sky, they're actually being lifted up by these wires, here and here, huh... Number Six: The Blue Man In the same scene as the one we've just been watching, it appears that not everyone wanted to dress for the occasion because, in this shot of Elrond fighting an orc, we can clearly see this tiny little man in blue overalls and a white hardhat. Number Seven: Tree Stump When departing from Lothlórien the fellowship passes this lovely looking tree at the lake. The top half of the tree was actually CGI and the base was made on set and stood around 20ft high. But in this wide shot we can clearly see that the rest of the tree isn't there, did they quickly chop it down or something? Number Eight: Change Places Rivendell is a magical place where elves live so maybe that's why its architecture and scenery keep changing? For some reason, it seems to change throughout the movies. Number Nine: Not Shore When the fellowship reaches the shore of Nen Hithoel we can see that the bank on the left has been enhanced with rock formations. But in the scene where we see Frodo standing at the shore (after the battle in the woods), preparing to go to Mordor on his own, the shore that before was rocky is now just a boring green hill. Number Ten: Who's That? One that takes the prize is this guy, Eomer's stunt double who randomly appears instead of Eomer, alongside Gandalf and coat the end of the second movie. Well, those were the 'hard to spot' mistakes that we found in The Lord of the Rings. Did you spot any of these? Let us know in the comment section below. Steady there!”cried the old man, holding up one hand, and they stopped short, as if they had been struck stiff.” “I know the tune for him. Old grey Willow-man! I’ll freeze his marrow cold, if he don’t behave himself. I’ll sing his roots off. I’ll sing a wind up and blow leaf and branch away. Old man Willow!” “Tom put his mouth to the crack and began singing into it in a low voice.” “The table is all laden with yellow cream, honeycomb, and white bread and butter” “Fear nothing! For tonight you are under the roof of Tom Bombadil” “Old Tom Bombadil is a merry fellow; Bright blue his jacket is, and his boots are yellow.” “Who is Tom Bombadil?” “He is,” said goldberry. “He is, as you have seen him,” she said in answer to his look. “He is the Master of wood, water and hill” “Then all this strange land belongs to him?” “No indeed!” she answered, but her smile faded. “That would indeed be a burden,” she added in a low voice, as if to herself. “The trees and the grasses and all things growing or living in the land belong each to themselves. Tom Bombadil is the Master. No one has ever caught old Tom walking in the forest, wading in the water, leaping on the hill-tops under light and shadow. He has no fear. Tom Bombadil is master.” “He told them tales of bees and flowers, the ways of trees, and the strange creatures of the Forest, about the evil things and good things, things friendly and things unfriendly, cruel things and king things, and secrets hidden under brambles.” “Tom’s words laid bare the hearts of trees and their thoughts, which were often dark and strange, and filled with a hatred of things that go free upon the earth, gnawing, biting, breaking, hacking, burning: destroyers and usurpers.” “and it seemed as if, under the spell of his words, the wind had gone, and the clouds had dried up, and the day had been withdrawn” “Who are you, Master? He asked “Don’t you know my name yet? That’s the only answer. Tell me, who are you, alone, yourself and nameless? But you are young and I am old. Eldest, that’s what I am. Mark my words, my friends. Tom was here before the river and the trees; Tom remembers the first raindrop and the first acorn. He made paths before the Big people, and saw the little people arriving, He was here before the Kings and the graves and the Barrow-wights. When the Elves passed westward, Tom was here already, before the seas were bent. He knew the dark under the stars when it was fearless – before the Dark Lord came from Outside. “Show me the precious Ring!” he said suddenly in the midst of the story: and Frodo, to his own astonishment, drew out the chain from his pocket, and unfastening the Ring handed it at once to Tom. “Then Tom put the Ring round the end of his little finger and held it up to the candlelight. For a moment the hobbits noticed nothing strange about this. Then they gasped. There was no sign of Tom disappearing! Tom laughed again, and then he spun the Ring in the air- and it vanished with a flash. Frodo gave a cry- and Tom leaned forward and handed it back to him with a smile.” “Hey there!” cried Tom, glancing towards him with a most seeing look in his shining eyes. “Hey! Come Frodo, there! Where be you a-going? Old Tom Bombadil’s not as blind as that yet. Take off your golden ring! Your hand’s more fair without it. The Walls of Moria LOTR 1.14 [HD 1080p]
Lord of the Rings. Fellowship of the Ring Extended HD 1080p Xvid AC3. Watch in 1080p fullscreen, enjoy. Medivh. Frodo, come and help an old man. How is your shoulder? Better than it was. And the Ring? You feel its power growing, don't you? I've felt it too. You must be careful now. Evil will be drawn to you from outside the Fellowship. And, I fear, from within. Who then do I trust? You must trust yourself. Trust your own strengths. What do you mean? There are many powers in this world, for Good or for Evil. Some are greater than I am. And against some I have not yet been tested. The Walls of Moria! Dwarf doors are invisible when closed. Yes, Gimli, their own masters cannot find them, if their secrets are forgotten. Why doesn't that surprise me? Now, let's see. Ithildin. It reads 'The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter. What do you suppose that means? Oh, it's quite simple. If you are a friend, you speak the password, and the doors will open. Annon Edhellen, edro hi ammen! Fennas Nogothrim, lasto beth lammen. Nothing's happening. I once knew every spell in all the tongues of Elves, Men and Orcs. What are you going to do, then? Knock your head against these doors, Peregrin Took! And if that does not shatter them, and I am allowed a little peace from foolish questions, I will try to find the opening words. Ando Eldarinwa, a lasta quettanya, Fenda Casarinwa Buh-bye Bill.Go on, Bill, go on. Don't worry Sam, he knows the way home.Do not disturb the water. Oh, it's useless! It's a riddle. Speak 'friend' and enter. What's the Elvish word for friend? Mellon.

No green screens were used in the making of this music video. Read about the location miracle here: http://thepianoguys.com/no-such-thing-as-luck/ Story behind the song: Since the beginning of The Piano Guys, "Lord of the Rings" has been our most requested work. As we reach one million subscribers we wanted to dedicate this arrangement to our "subs." This was an intimidating project -- encompassing the power and the beauty of the many musical themes throughout the movies; capturing the emotion and the "epic" nature of the story; and all with a few cellos, a piano, and a couple Canon 5D Mark IIs. We normally write our tunes during intense compositional binges -- the bulk of our songs have been written within the period of a few days. This one was different. It was a drawn-out process during which we studied the music of The Lord of Rings, contemplated what themes to incorporate, how they could tell the story by flowing from one to the other. We also spent a lot of time finding new ways to imitate instruments from various sections of the orchestra using Steve's cellos -- from the brass section through the woodwind section to the percussion section. We love the story of The Lord of the Rings. It is a tale that has spiritual meaning for us. We love its messages -- that "even the smallest person can change the course of the future," that "there's good in this world and it's worth fighting for," "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us" ... and that everyone should have a "second breakfast." =) We love the poignant depiction of loyalty between the Fellowship of the Ring (we even included the "Fellowship" theme three times - at 0:18, 3:58 and at the end of the arrangement - to feel like a common thread in the music as it is in the story.) We wanted to paint these messages musically as vividly as possible. Like so many things in the creative realm, and to paraphrase Mr. Bilbo Baggins, the hardest part was the first step. After a brief introduction of the Hobbit Theme and Fellowship Theme (arguably the most relevant musical moments) we felt strongly that we needed to begin with the deeply touching melody that serves as the soundtrack to Arwen's vision of her future son (in the extended version of Return of the King). That gave way to a Divinely-led journey from the Shire and Rivendell through Isengard and Rohan to Gondor's victory over Mordor. We endeavored to represent each of the major allies and opposing forces in the story: The Elves 0:44 The Ents 1:48 Rohan 2:08 Mordor and Isengard 2:32 Hobbits 3:08 Gondor 4:11 (Read rest of the story here http://thepianoguys.com/portfolio/lord-of-the-rings-the-hobbit/ ) Credits: Lord of the Rings Soundtrack, specifically "The Grace of Undomiel," "Isengard Unleashed," "Amon Hen," and "Many Meetings" written by Howard Shore and published by Universal Music Corp Arrangement produced and written by Al van der Beek, Jon Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson Performed by Steven Sharp Nelson: acoustic, carbon fiber, steel, and electric cellos; cello percussion; vocal textures Jon Schmidt: piano Al van der Beek: percussion Recorded, mixed and mastered by Al van der Beek at TPG Studios Video filmed, produced and edited by Paul Anderson Many thanks to the REAL Piano Guys (our piano movers!!) Who is Sauron? - The History of the Dark Lord from LotR in Tolkien's Lore (Spoilers)
Who is Sauron? What's his story? Today we have a look at the antagonist of Lord of the Rings and his history in middle-earth. This ancient evil entity is in fact the Lord of the Rings and has troubled elves, men and dwarves for over 6500 years. He is the servant of Morgoth (Melkor) in Tolkien's Universe. In the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings, you don't learn too much about him, but in the Appendices and the Silmarillion we find a lot of small background story about the Dark Lord and learn about his lore from the LotR books and the Silmarillion, which explains why he gave Aragorn, Gandalf, Fordo, Sam, Gimli and the others so much trouble with his One Ring. #LotR #Lore #explained Notes: - This video contains spoilers - The books are my main source - There are some mistakes in the video Mistakes: - Fréaláf Hildeson was Helm's nephew, not his son. - Morgoth is Sindarin (which is strange) and means "Dark Enemy". He was also called Morgoth Bauglir (Bauglir as some kind of title) and Bauglir means "constrainer" or "tyrant". The name Morgoth and its translation also went through some iterations, which probably results in Morgoth being a Sindarin name instead of a Quenya. AfaIk Tolkien never finally decided on this. - Arrow placement and text mistake: Ungoliant tries to kill Morgoth near Angband not Ûdun. For more films by the makers of this and BoH extras please visit. Yet amidst these valiant, desperate people, hope remains. A royal house endures unbroken from father to son. This 70 minute original drama is set in the time before the War of the Ring and tells the story of the Dúnedain, the Rangers of the North, before the return of the King. Inspired by only a couple of paragraphs written by Tolkien in the appendices of the Lord of the Rings we follow Arathorn and Gilraen, the parents of Aragorn, from their first meeting through a turbulent time in their people's history.

Dragons in Lord of the Rings' Lore - Smaug, Glaurung, Ancalagon, Scatha - Tolkien and LotR Lore
Not many dragons are known by name in the LotR lore and Tolkien's works, but they inspired a lot of other Fantasy works. Today we have a look at them, their origin, lore and backstory. We start with Glaurung, the father of Dragons and the tragic story of Túrin and his sister Nienor (Níniel), the children of Húrin. We also look at Ancalagon the Black, the Beast of Gondolin, Scatha the Worm, Smaug the Golden and the War of the Dwarves and Dragons (including ancestors of Thorin Oakenshield, Dáin Ironfoot, Thrór, etc.) . I try to summarize the stories and backgrounds, but also explain some differences compared to the movies (Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit). Interestingly, dragons seem to only exist on Middle-earth. #LotR #Lore #explained For some reason I have a lot of pop sounds in my voice recording. Sorry for that. This video has quite a lot of smaller mistakes =/ Mistakes: 0:04 (also later) - *its own tale (4 seconds MVP typo) ;( 0:24 - The picture is from Shadow of Mordor and not from the movies. But the point does not change. 7:31 - the thought bubble picture is missing in the top left corner 9:57 - *fell ~ 11:50 - Sometimes I say Scatha like "Chatha", but it's "Shatha". 13:05 - It's Forodwaith not Frodowaith :D Túrin's story is inspired by Sigurd the Volsung, Oedipus, and the Finnish Kullervo, so not only by Oedipus. ###### Sources and Useful Links ###### Audio only version of this video (if you want to support me, still check my YT channel): https://soundcloud.com/user-500513253/dragons-of-the-lord-of-the-rings-universe-smaug-glaurung-ancalagon-scatha-lore-spoilers LotR Map (Beleriand and Middle-earth Third Age): http://lotrproject.com Lore and History of the Elves and Cirdan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgcnVsMAnMo Very good Tolkien and Lord of the Rings Wiki: http://tolkiengateway.net Books: Lord of The Rings (1954-1955) by J.
