Description: Magnetic contactor used in high current applications. Overload relay is used for emergency trip if any fault occurs that high current flows. Here we used 23A~32A overload relay. When current exceeds 32A then, overload tripped. There is two button; stop and reset. We can manually stop and reset the relay. Here is also test option that we can trip the relay. 3-phase input power connected in top side and motor terminal connected to bottom side. Here pin 97 & 98 is normally open contact. 95 & 96 pin is normally closed contact. If overload tripped and we want to ON a 220VAC LED. Then 220V will be connected to pin 97. One terminal of LED is connected to pin 98. If overload tripped then 220V goes to LED and energizes.

Thermal magnetic circuit breakers, which are the type found in most distribution boards, incorporate both techniques with the electromagnet responding instantaneously to large surges in current (short circuits) and the bimetallic strip responding to less extreme but longer-term over-current conditions. The thermal portion of the circuit breaker provides an "inverse time" response feature, which trips the circuit breaker sooner for larger overcurrents but allows smaller overloads to persist for a longer time. On very large over-currents during a short-circuit, the magnetic element trips the circuit breaker with no intentional additional delay.

Shunts allow for current or voltage to be measured when the current on a DC line is high enough where it can damage devices directly connected to the line. It is a resistive element that is made of two conductive metals on the sides and then a strap of metal in between made of manganin, an alloy typically consisting of copper, manganese and nickel. The resistive element is placed directly on the DC line in series and provides low enough resistance as to not to impede or disrupt the flow of current, but just enough so that a range can be sampled. The voltage drop across the shunt is proportional to the current flowing through and with the resistance known an instrumentation device such as a panel meter can give an accurate reading in volts or current. Basically a pair of super magnets, covered with a deep dark green glaze. We think that they probably contain a sinter of neodymium, iron and boron. Alsdo known as 'oids' and rattlesnake eggs. Hold the magnets between your fingers, and give them a spin as you throw them up into the air. They make a strange 'cheeping' almost like a bird. The second trick you can do with these magnets is quite dramatic. Separate the two magnets in your hand by about 2 inches (holding them firmly otherwise they will just lock together) and then throw them up in the air together. Because they are magnets they will attract each other of course. But initially they will 'rattle' in the air. The sound is amazing - something like a demented cicada or the 'fizzing' of a high voltage current. It will last for a couple of seconds before the magnets finally lock together. You can try misdirecting your audience by pretending to 'wind up' one magnet against the other, or by pretending to switch on the mechanism, before you throw the magnets in the air.

Magnetic sails: they could stop the interstellar space probes. Our nearest star neighbor, Alpha Centauri, is only four light years from Earth, and although that is very close in the grand scheme of things, we can not simply borrow a little milk. With our current technology, the trip would take tens of thousands of years, but there are plans for small unmanned probes that could get there in just 20 years. Now, a German theoretical physicist has detailed a method to use magnetic sails as a braking system, to reduce the speed to a cruising speed once they get there. Last year, some ambitious space travel plans were presented as part of Breakthrough Starshot, a show headed by iconic physicist Stephen Hawking, and businessman Yuri Milner. The idea was to accelerate small spaceships, about the size of a CubeSat, using a laser propulsion system like a light sail, and send them to Alpha Centauri. This technique has the potential to make nano spacecraft reach approximately 20 percent of the speed of light, allowing it to travel to the Alpha Centauri star system in just decades rather than millennia. But the acceleration is only half of the equation: without braking systems it will be a flying visit, since the spaceship makes its way without being able to cover many of the places of interest. Braking systems for these types of boats are a challenge. The space and weight on board are extremely limited, and without friction in the interstellar medium it is difficult to brake an object that moves at about 60,000 km 37,000 mi per second. So Claudius Gros, professor of theoretical physics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, explained in a new document how magnetic candles could be used to slow down these spacecraft. The sail is composed of a superconducting loop that can be deployed to a diameter of approximately 50 km 31 miles. A leak-free current is induced to create a strong magnetic field in the middle of the cycle, and charged charged particles would be reflected in that magnetic field, gradually reducing the speed of the ship. Interstellar space is extremely empty, with a density of 0.005 to 0.1 particles per cm 3, but according to Gros's calculations, the system should be able to function even with such a low particle density. That said, the ship would need to weigh less than 1,500 kg 3,300 lb and travel relatively slowly: much slower in fact, than 20 percent of the speed of light originally proposed.

A guide to a children's MRI Scan ( Magnetic Resonance Imaging ) at Chesterfield Royal Hospital

***This video is a simulated illustration to children and their parents of an MRI Scan procedure under general anaesthetic, at no time was the scanner in operation, and no anaesthetic was administered*** Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a type of scan that uses strong magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of the inside of the body. An MRI scanner is a large tube that contains powerful magnets. You lie inside the tube during the scan. An MRI scan can be used to examine almost any part of the body. During an MRI scan, you lie on a flat bed which is moved into the scanner. Depending on the part of your body being scanned, you will be moved into the scanner either head first or feet first. The MRI scanner is operated by someone who is trained in carrying out X-rays and similar procedures, called a radiographer. They control the scanner using a computer, which is in a different room from the scanner to keep it away from the magnetic field generated by the scanner. You will be able to talk to the radiographer through an intercom and they will be able to see you on a television monitor throughout the scan. At certain times during the scan, the scanner will make loud tapping noises. This is the electric current in the scanner coils being turned on and off. You will be given earplugs or headphones to wear. It is very important that you keep as still as possible during your MRI scan. The scan will last between 15 and 90 minutes, depending on the size of the area being scanned and how many images are taken. An MRI scan is a painless and safe procedure. You may find it uncomfortable if you have claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), but with support from the radiographer, most people find this manageable. Sometimes going into the scanner feet first may be easier, although this is not always possible. MRI scans do not involve exposing the body to X-ray radiation. This means people who may be particularly vulnerable to the effects of radiation, such as pregnant women and babies, can use them if necessary. However, not everyone can have an MRI scan. For example, they are not always possible for people who have certain types of implants fitted, such as a pacemaker (a battery operated device that helps control an irregular heartbeat). Extensive research has been carried out into whether the magnetic fields and radio waves used during MRI scans could pose a risk to the human body. No evidence to suggest that there is a risk has been found, which means that MRI is one of the safest medical procedures currently available. caravan trip 2007 Mount Magnet is an old Western Australian gold-rush town. The name was chosen during exploration of the region due to an isolated hill 5km north west of the town current townsite. This hill has an extremely high iron content and affected the compasses of explorers. At the 2001 census, Mount Magnet had a population of 887.[1] It is located 573 kilometres (356 mi) northeast of Perth via the Great Northern Highway. Only a few mines are still worked, including Hill 50 which started operations in the 1890s. The area once had three separate townsites - Mt Magnet, Boogardie, and Lennonville. Boogardie has since been swallowed up into the open cut mining operations at Hill 50. Lennonville was abandoned at the start of World War I, and the foundations of the bank and train station can still be seen. Unusual for such a large mining community, Mt Magnet has never had a public battery. The nearest battery was built 5km west, in Boogardie. However its gold-rush heyday can be seen in its very wide main street with three hotels, a race course and a golf course complete with oiled greens. DON PUGH

All moving parts of thin stainless steel with semitransparent colored panels. Energy transfer: chemical bonds to heat to kinetic energy of the rising air to rotational kinetic energy of the turbine. Reflective Wind Spinner: this one translates rotating motion into a repeating expanding (or shrinking) circle. An interesting one of many ways to connect rotational motion to translational motion. Drinking Bird Heat Engine: time lapse of 15 minutes into 15 seconds (4 cycles). Cooling by evaporation at the head leads to lower pressure in the top bulb, the dichloromethane fluid rises up the neck making the bird top heavy and the bird tips over dipping its beak and letting the fluid return to the bottom bulb. The time lapse allows a clearer picture of how the fluid rises, shifting the center of mass, and how tipping makes the glass column lift out of the fluid in the bottom allowing the pressure to equalize and letting gravity pull the fluid to return to the base. Process repeats as long as the top stays wet. So much physics in one hypnotic toy! Tea-Light Floating Engine: a candle powered super simple steam engine. The engine is just a coil of copper tubing filled with water. Steam builds up pushing water out with an explosive jet- which then results in a vacuum in the coil which pulls more water in to repeat the process. The water expulsion is in the form of jet directed out the end of the tube whereas the refill comes back in to the tube from a larger range of angles- so on balance the engine moves opposite to the direction of the jets. Pixelated Playing Cards: what one sees is all about the lighting with this transparent deck of cards. When backlit these poker sized cards become simply a grid of dots- reminding us that what we see not only concerns the physical properties of the perceived object, but also the location of the light source and the frequency and intensity of its emissions. Hand Boiler: liquid-gas phase transition. The boiling point of dichloromethane is slightly below body temperature - heat from a hand increases pressure in the bottom bulb pushing the purple (dyed) liquid through the glass pipe to the top. Hollow Mask Dragon Illusion: a concave image lighted from the bottom appears as a regular convex image via this vintage version of the hollow face illusion. Moondrop: using magnets and Lenz's Law to imitate free fall times on the Moon and Mars. The key to this device is the presence of neodymium magnets in the central aluminum column. The ring then temporarily becomes an electromagnet that exerts some repulsion against the center magnets slowing the ring down. In the presence of a magnetic field, ferromagnetic materials (such as iron) temporarily become magnets. Kaleidoscope Symmetry Physics: Two adjacent mirrors form the repeating image of a kaleidoscope, but the shape of the image is determined by the angle between the mirrors. This principle is demonstrated with three different symmetrical patterns using this beautiful set of precision teleidoscopes- angles of 36° (blue tube), 30° (green tube), and 22.5° (red tube), creating mandala stars with 5, 6, and 8 points. The angle for any symmetric star pattern of n points is just 180°/n. A teleidoscope is a kaleidoscope but with a lens on the end, such that the kaleidoscopic image is formed by whatever is put in front of it. Magnetic Sand Hourglass: ferromagnetic sand collects above a neodymium magnet in the wood base creating interesting patterns that reveal the magnetic field lines. Diffraction Spectrum Candle: a thin plastic diffraction grating surrounds the flame in this rainbow producing design. The rainbow spectrum is produced not by refraction like that of a prism, but instead by diffraction, where light waves deconstructively and constuctively interfere.
