About that error: ORA-06502: numeric or value error

12:11
"ORA-06502: numeric or value error" is one of the most commonly occurring and irritating errors for PL/SQL developers. Value too big for its "container"? Trying to stuff a non-numeric string value into a number through implicit conversion? [naughty naughty] In this video, Steven takes a close look at ORA-06502, exploring the ways it can be raised and how best to deal with those scenarios. ============================ Practically Perfect PL/SQL with Steven Feuerstein Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. Oracle Database11g tutorials 11: SQL case manipulation function in Oracle Database

Part 2 SQL functions- character function -case manipulation functions Previous Video Link :: http://youtu.be/5rx8Q4x4-qI Tool used in this tutorial is command prompt. This tutorial series is part of SQL expert exam certification training. if you are preparing for SQL certification you can use my tutorials. This SQL Tutorial is a part of free training. Copy Cloud referral link || Use this link to join copy cloud and get 20GB of free storage https://copy.com?r=j7eYO7 Contacts E-Mail [email protected] Twitter https://twitter.com/rebellionrider Instagram http://instagram.com/rebellionrider Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/imthebhardwaj Linkedin. http://in.linkedin.com/in/mannbhardwaj/ Thanks for linking, commenting, sharing and watching more of our videos This is Manish from RebellionRider.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As discuss in last video we have 3 case manipulation functions. In case you miss the SQL functions intro video you can find the link in the description below. First let's see what these functions are. Upper (): This function takes a parameter converts it into uppercase and returns the new string. Initcap (): this function also takes parameter and converts the initial letter of or parameter into uppercase and returns the new string. Lower (): This function takes a parameter converts it into lowercase and returns the new string. Ok let's do some practical For this practical we will be using 2 tables First is dual table Which is a dummy table provided by oracle? And I have created another table again by the name of example. This will be our second table. Let's start with SQL function upper ( ); SELECT upper('hello world') FROM dual; As you can see I have used "hello world" completely in lowercase as parameter to SQL upper function. Execute it. Here, our result has given us a completely new hello world string which is in uppercase. Similarly you can also use SQL upper function to perform other DML Let's try This time we will work on our second table EXAMPLE; insert into example values (upper('manish')); first parentheses for values and second for SQL function upper. Let's check the result. As you can see here inserted value is in upper case. Lets compare it with simple insert query Insert into example values ('manish'); Execute it, i think now it's clear that when we perform simple insert DML the inserted value will be the same you provide. Similarly let's try SQL function initcap(); SELECT initcap('hello world') FROM dual; As you see here in result the initial letters of string hello world are in uppercase. Let's do the insert query insert into example values (initcap('hello world')); initial letters of string also are in uppercase. Let's try SQL function lower(); This time we have to write our hello world in all caps. SELECT lower('HELLO WORLD') FROM dual; Execute String totally in lower case. Similarly you can user SQL function lower in other DML like insert and all.

CHARINDEX LEFT SUBSTRING The following 3 queries retrieve all student rows whose Name starts with letter 'M'. Notice none of the queries are using the LIKE operator. Oracle SQL Tutorial 28 - CHAR Part 2

03:33
Now this video is a continuation of the last video. I decided to break the video up into sections so they didn't cover so much information and drag on for 10 minutes. This video we are going to talk about the length of CHAR. Now it is important to remember that CHAR is a fixed-length data type. This means that every row's value for this column is going to have the same length. The length is given to the database by specifying the length in parenthesis, such as CHAR(10). If you give a value shorter than that, it will be padded with spaces. What range is allowed though? The lowest is actually one. The highest is 2000. Now, remember that Oracle allows either the specification of CHAR or BYTE. The limit of 2000 is actually 2000 bytes. What happens if you put 2000 CHAR? Well, Oracle actually lets you do that. What is the problem with this though? The problem is that not all characters are 1 byte. This means that our 2000 CHAR is inaccurate. This will only work with 1 byte characters. This might not seem like a big problem, but it can lead to runtime errors in code that uses our database. A runtime error is when our code runs and in certain circumstances we get an error and others we do not. If we allow a user to insert up to 2000 characters, but they decide to use multibyte characters such as Chinese, we will get an error. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

We will start with Simple primary key. You can create Primary key either with Create Table statement of by using Alter table Statement. Let's define simple primary key using create table statements. With create table statement we can either define primary key at column level or at table level. We will start with defining Primary key at column level using create table statement. You just have to put keyword Primary key after data type and size of column while defining a column of a table. Here oracle server will create a primary key on product id with default constraint name which will be slightly difficult to understand. You can give your own name to your constraint which is also a good practice.

How to Enable Line Numbers in SQL Developer

02:04
https://www.databasestar.com/sql-developer-line-numbers/ In this video, we’ll look at how to enable line numbers in SQL Developer. Line numbers are the numbers next to the code editor that tell you what number each line is, starting with 1 and working down. They are common in IDEs in all languages. When you install SQL Developer (or rather, download it, as it doesn’t need to be installed specifically), the line numbers are turned off by default. Why would you want to turn them on? Well, they are really helpful for debugging. When you get an error message, you’ll be given a line number. This refers to the line number in your SQL query that caused the error. With line numbers enabled in SQL Developer, you can see where the error comes from. Watch the video to learn how to turn on line numbers. (Hint: It’s an option inside Tools - Preferences). For more information on this, including screenshots, refer to the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/sql-developer-line-numbers/

Oracle LISTAGG Function

04:57
https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-listagg/ The Oracle LISTAGG function allows you to aggregate or combine string values from multiple rows into a single row. For example, it turns this data: FIRST_NAME Adam Brad Carrie Into this data: FIRST_NAME Adam, Brad, Carrie The same data is shown, but it’s in one row and not multiple. It’s a valuable string manipulation function, and once you know what it is and how it works, you’ll be able to use it in your queries as needed. So what does it look like? The function is: LISTAGG ( measure_expr [, delimiter]) WITHIN GROUP (order_by_clause) [OVER query_partition_clause] These parameters are: measure_expr: This is a column or expression that you want to concatenate the values of. In the example above, it was the first_name column. Mandatory. delimiter: This is the character between each of the measure_expr values. Optional, the default is a comma. order_by_clause: This is the order that the values from the measure_expr are listed. Mandatory. query_partition_clause: This allows you to use LISTAGG as an analytic function, allowing you to show LISTAGG in groups for different rows. One thing to be aware of is that the output of the Oracle LISTAGG function is limited to 4,000 bytes. If you get more than this, you’ll receive an error. The most common way around this that I’ve seen is to write a custom function and use a CLOB. Watch the video to find out more and see some examples. For more information about the Oracle LISTAGG function, including all of the SQL shown in this video and the examples, read the related article here: https://www.databasestar.com/oracle-listagg/

External Table in ORACLE Creating and Loading data from external tables

24:30
External Table in ORACLE Creating and Loading data from external tables. To Learn or Teach Linux visit www.theskillpedia.com, A Marketplace for Learners and Trainers. Creating and Loading an External Table Using ORACLE_LOADER The steps in this demonstration show an example of using the ORACLE_LOADER access driver to create and load an external table. A traditional table named emp_list is defined along with an external table named emp_load. The external data is then loaded into an internal table. Step 1. Log in as oracle user and create a Directory to place the data file /u01/app/datafiles: $ mkdir –p /u01/app/datafiles Step 2 Create a file emp_data.dat file with some sample records in /u01/app/datafiles: 45 october, 25, 1968 Sangwan Ram N 09/01/1993 67 december, 25, 1971 Dahiya Sunil D 01/01/1994 Step 3. Execute the following SQL statements to set up a default directory. Notes about this example: • The employee_number field in the datafile is converted to a character string for the employee_number field in the external table. • The datafile contains an employee_dob field that is not loaded into any field in the table. • The substr function is used on the employee_middle_name column in the external table to generate the value for middle_initial in tableemp. • The character string for employee_hire_date in info.dat is automatically converted into a DATE datatype at external table access time, using the format mask specified in the external table definiition. • Unlike employee_hire_date, the DATE datatype conversion for employee_dob is done at SELECT time and is not part of the external table definition.

Every VARCHAR2(N) Declaration a Bug in PL/SQL!?

07:51
Every VARCHAR2(N) Declaration a Bug!? That's right. VARCHAR2 declarations mean that you have to provide an "N" or constraint on the size of the variable. If you have such declarations all over your code, that's a form of hard-coding and you are likely to get hammered by VALUE_ERROR exceptions. This video shows how to fix this problem. See the Practically Perfect PL/SQL YouTube channel for related videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpJpLMRm452kVcie3RpINPw ============================================ Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. How To Edit MySql Engine Parameters Of an Amazon RDS Instance

13:03
PHP Web Technology Funda | AWS Cloud Read my blog here : https://www.howtoinmagento.com/ Before editing DB engine parameters, lets know about DB parameter group. We can manage DB engine configuration through the parameters in a DB parameter group. A default DB parameter group is created while creating new DB instance. We cannot modify the parameter settings of a default DB parameter group directly. If we want to edit any existing parameter value then we must create new custom DB parameter group rather than default group. Once you create custom DB parameter group, it will show you all the parameters in list and details like which parameters are editable, default value and parameter type for example dynamic or static. Some important points about DB parameter group: When we edit a dynamic parameter and save, the change is applied immediately regardless of the Apply Immediately setting. When we edit a static parameter and save, the parameter change will take effect after you manually reboot the DB instance. When we change the DB parameter group associated with a DB instance, you must manually reboot the instance before the new custom DB parameter group is used by the DB instance. The parameter value can be specified as an integer or as an integer expression built from formulas, variables, functions & operators. Note: Improperly setting parameters in a DB parameter group can have unintended adverse effects, including degraded performance and system instability. You should try out parameter group setting changes on a test DB instance before applying those parameter group changes to a production DB instance. Steps To Edit my.ini Parameters Of an Amazon RDS Instance: 1: Sign in to your AWS Management Console and search "RDS" in "AWS Service" search box. 2: Once you find RDS service, Open that Amazon RDS console page. 3: On left side panel click on "Instances" menu, then click on your "DB instance" 4: Click on "Parameter groups" menu from left panel then click on "Create parameter group" button 5: Select "Parameter group family" as per your default parameter group,in my case I will select "mysql5.6" 6: Enter new "Group name" like custom-test-group 7: Enter Description for the DB parameter group 8: Then click on "Create" button, it will create new custom Parameter group. 9: Now click "Parameter groups" menu from left panel again, it will list new recently created parameter group 10: Click on that new custom parameter group, You will see "Parameters" filter option. 11: Search for parameter you want to update the value like "wait_timeout" and click on "Edit parameters" button 12: You can add value from range mention in "Allowed values" column of that parameter. like 1-31536000 for "wait_timeout" parameter. 13: Once you done with changes, click on "Save Changes" button, It will save all recent parameter changes. 14: After this we need to associate this new custom parameter group to our DB Instance. 15: On left side panel click on "Instances" menu again, then click on your "DB instance". On the right top corner click on "Instance Action" drop-down then click on "Modify" menu. 16: You will see "Modify DB Instance" page, Now scroll down and go to "Database options" section and select newly created custom parameter group from "DB parameter group" dropbox. 17: Click on "Continue" button, It will take some time to apply new parameter group. 18: Once done Step 17, Again On left side panel click on "Instances" menu, then click on your "DB instance". On the right top corner click on "Instance Action" drop-down then click on "Reboot" menu. Happy Learning AWS Services!!!! :) Still Doubts? lets put your questions in below comment box! Thanks! BluePrism - Working with PDF || Reality & Useful

27:31
Hi Friends, Now We will do workout on PDF Files. ------------------------------------------------------------ I have a PDF file having more pages. Each page temple is same. let's see the file But upto 5 pages having data So we will read the name of the candidate in each page upto 5 pages. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Let's create a Business Object for this And these practice PDF file will be give in this link for your practice http://jmp.sh/v/t1jc9GWJ39LHAJVmhFvL 1. Configure the Application Moduler for PDF in Chrome browser And provide the path of the pdf file I am done with linking part. Let's use the Region Mode to create the required Elements. We need page number changing element and name element to read test 2. Now our elements are ready will start implementing Bot 3. Use navigate stage to launch the application mean launch the pdf file in browser. 4. Use wait stage to keep few seconds idle for next actions 5. Read the candidate name in first page using Read Stage Use 'Read Text with OCR' option and store it in Name Data Item Let's link and test it. We are getting the data from first page Let's create a loop structure to read data from remaining 4 pages. But we have 19 pages right the remaining pages doesn't have data. only first 5 pages have data. 6. Change the Page number in top side black bar using Navigate stages 7. First click on Page number place and enter the next page number for this we need to create Counter data item. It starts with '1' 8. Before this increment the counter using Calculation stage 9. Now Enter these counter value in the page number place using Navigate stage Use Global Send Keys and use Enter key 10. We need to loop from read stage. But we need control the loop up to 5 levels So, Use decision before the read stage of name and check 11. We done with the flow Finally the read values will be overridden in Name data item. To Avoid this, create collection and add these names into collection 12. I Created collection with one field called Name. 13. Use Action stage to add empty row to collection 14. Use Calculation stage to add data into collection Let's run it page not changing. Let's have a look Enter not working Change the brackets [] to {} "{ENTER}" Finally we got the data Thank you for watching video

This question comes up about as frequently as the ‘how do I import data to Oracle Database’ question. It’s pretty simple once you’ve ran through the process a few times. But you may be here because you’ve never ran through the process before.
