Oracle SQL Tutorial 30 - UTF-8 and UTF-16 Character Sets
A few videos ago we discussed UTF-8 and UTF-16 encoding, but when we are working with a database we do not worry about encodings as much as we do character sets. That's because a specific character set is going to have a specific encoding. The reason I am making this video is to introduce you to the most common character sets and to teach you the differences. That’s because as we go into the national character sets we need to understand the information taught in this video. So the first character set I am going to teach you about is AL32UTF8. AL32UTF8 is a character set that uses the uff-8 encoding and each character can take up to 4 bytes with the utf-8 encoding. There is another character set (not encoding) called utf8 (no hyphen) which is also encoded with UTF-8. This can be a little confusing because UTF8 is the name of an encoding and a character set, but bear with me. Both of these character sets are UTF-8 encoded, but UTF8 uses an older version of UTF-8 encoding. Generally, they work about the same, but the way certain characters are stored is slightly different, specifically way certain characters are stored is slightly different, specifically what are known as supplementary characters, which take up 4 bytes. The max size for a UTF8 character set is 3 bytes, as they do not directly support the supplementary characters as 4 bytes but instead store them across 2 groups of 3 bytes each. Oracle recommends that you use AL32UTF8 for all future development instead of the archaic UTF8 character set. There is another character set that you should know about, and that is AL16UTF16, which uses the UTF-16 encoding. Watch my video over UTF-8 and UTF-16 to learn more about UTF-16. Lastly, there is a character set known as UTFE, which uses an encoding known as UTF-EBCDIC. This is like a super archaic character set, and I'm not even going to talk about it. I thought I would at least mention it as it is going to come up a bit in the next video's topic. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Support me! http://www.patreon.com/calebcurry Subscribe to my newsletter: http://bit.ly/JoinCCNewsletter Donate!: http://bit.ly/DonateCTVM2. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Additional Links~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ More content: http://CalebCurry.com Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/CalebTheVideoMaker Google+: https://plus.google.com/+CalebTheVideoMaker2 Twitter: http://twitter.com/calebCurry Amazing Web Hosting - http://bit.ly/ccbluehost (The best web hosting for a cheap price!)

Encoding and Decoding XML in Go (golang)
What if you had to write some data out in XML format? How would you do it in using golang? The is, very easy actually. Basically, ignoring error handling, your code boils down to: data := &Person{....} f, err := os.Create("some-file.xml") end := xml.NewEncoder(f) xml.Encode(data) Decoding from XML is similarly very easy. Scrapebox ANSI Addon - Convert encoded urls to their native character set
Get ScrapeBox -- http://www.scrapebox.com Free Addons - http://www.scrapebox.com/addons The ANSI addon allows you to export encoded urls to their native character set. You get the choice of UTF-8 or Unicode. Once you install the addon you do not need to launch the addon directly, you simply go to export and save as text, like normal, and it pops up and asks you which format you would like to save them in.
Part 18 Load xml data into sql server table using sqlbulkcopy
In this video we will discuss 1. What is the use of SqlBulkCopy class 2. Loading xml data into sql server table using sqlbulkcopy What is the use of SqlBulkCopy class SqlBulkCopy class is used to bulk copy data from different data sources to SQL Server database. This class is present in System.Data.SqlClient namespace. This class can be used to write data only to SQL Server tables. However, the data source is not limited to SQL Server, any data source can be used, as long as the data can be loaded to a DataTable instance or read with a IDataReader instance. From a performance standpoint, SqlBulkCopy makes it very easy and efficient to copy large amounts of data. Loading xml data into sql server table using sqlbulkcopy The following are the steps to achieve this using SqlBulkCopy class Step 1 : Create the database tables using the following sql script Create table Departments ( ID int primary key, Name nvarchar(50), Location nvarchar(50) ) GO Create table Employees ( ID int primary key, Name nvarchar(50), Gender nvarchar(50), DepartmentId int foreign key references Departments(Id) ) GO Step 2 : Create a new empty asp.net web application project. Name it Demo. Step 3 : Add a new xml file to the project. Name it Data.xml. Copy and paste the following XML. [?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?] [Data] [Department Id="1"] [Name]IT[/Name] [Location]New York[/Location] [/Department] [Department Id="2"] [Name]HR[/Name] [Location]London[/Location] [/Department] [Department Id="3"] [Name]Payroll[/Name] [Location]Mumbai[/Location] [/Department] [Employee Id="1"] [Name]Mark[/Name] [Gender]Male[/Gender] [DepartmentId]1[/DepartmentId] [/Employee] [Employee Id="2"] [Name]John[/Name] [Gender]Male[/Gender] [DepartmentId]1[/DepartmentId] [/Employee] [Employee Id="3"] [Name]Mary[/Name] [Gender]Female[/Gender] [DepartmentId]2[/DepartmentId] [/Employee] [Employee Id="4"] [Name]Steve[/Name] [Gender]Male[/Gender] [DepartmentId]2[/DepartmentId] [/Employee] [Employee Id="5"] [Name]Ben[/Name] [Gender]Male[/Gender] [DepartmentId]3[/DepartmentId] [/Employee] [/Data] Step 4 : Include the database connection string in web.config file [connectionStrings] [add name="CS" connectionString="server=.;database=Sample;integrated security=true"/] [/connectionStrings] Step 5 : Add a new WebForm to the project. Drag and drop a button control on the webform. Double click the button control to generate the click event handler. Copy and paste the following code in the the click event handler method. string cs = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["CS"].ConnectionString; using (SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(cs)) { DataSet ds = new DataSet(); ds.ReadXml(Server.MapPath("~/Data.xml")); DataTable dtDept = ds.Tables["Department"]; DataTable dtEmp = ds.Tables["Employee"]; con.Open(); using (SqlBulkCopy sb = new SqlBulkCopy(con)) { sb.DestinationTableName = "Departments"; sb.ColumnMappings.Add("ID", "ID"); sb.ColumnMappings.Add("Name", "Name"); sb.ColumnMappings.Add("Location", "Location"); sb.WriteToServer(dtDept); } using (SqlBulkCopy sb = new SqlBulkCopy(con)) { sb.DestinationTableName = "Employees"; sb.ColumnMappings.Add("ID", "ID"); sb.ColumnMappings.Add("Name", "Name"); sb.ColumnMappings.Add("Gender", "Gender"); sb.ColumnMappings.Add("DepartmentId", "DepartmentId"); sb.WriteToServer(dtEmp); } } Note: Please make sure to include the following using declarations using System; using System.Configuration; using System.Data; using System.Data.SqlClient; Text version of the video http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2014/09/part-18-load-xml-data-into-sql-server.html Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/2014/09/part-18-load-xml-data-into-sql-server_23.html All ADO .NET Text Articles http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/free-adonet-video-tutorial.html All ADO .NET Slides http://csharp-video-tutorials.blogspot.com/p/adonet-slides.html All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in English https://www.youtube.com/user/kudvenkat/playlists?view=1&sort=dd All Dot Net and SQL Server Tutorials in Arabic https://www.youtube.com/c/KudvenkatArabic/playlists

Migration from Non-Container to PDB database-PART I- Oracle 12C Administration
Non-Container Name =NCDB convert to PDB-NCDB Container DB Name=CDB =========================== Steps for Conversion. Step 1. Cleanly Shutdown the Non-CDB Database Instance. ==- set environment to NCDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- Shutdown immediate Step 2. Once You Have Cleanly Shutdown the Database, Start Up the database in Mount Exclusive Mode and Open the Database in Read-Only Mode. ==- set environment to NCDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- startup mount exclusive ==- alter database open read only; Step 3. Generate a Pluggable Database Manifest File from the Non-Container Database. ==- set environment to NCDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- exec dbms_pdb.describe (pdb_descr_file=-'E:\app\oracle\manifest\NCDB_manifest_file.xml'); Step 4. Shutdown the NON-CDB file Once Step 3 Completes Successfully. ==- Set environment to NCDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- shutdown immediate Step 5. Start the CDB (CDB) if it’s Not Already Up and Check the Compatibility with CDB. ==- set environment to CDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- startup (If not up) ==- Run below at SQL prompt. SET SERVEROUTPUT ON; DECLARE Compatible CONSTANT VARCHAR2(3) :=CASE DBMS_PDB.CHECK_PLUG_COMPATIBILITY (pdb_descr_file =- 'E:\app\oracle\manifest\NCDB_manifest_file.xml') WHEN TRUE THEN 'YES' ELSE 'NO' END; BEGIN DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(compatible); END; / Step 6. Once it Completes Successfully, Query PDB_PLUG_IN_VIOLATIONS View from CDB Database for Any Errors. ==- set environment to CDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- select name, cause, type, message, status from PDB_PLUG_IN_VIOLATIONS where name='NCDB'; Note: "There should be no violations reported. If there are any, you need to fix it before proceeding". Step 7. Connect to the CDB Where Database has to be Plugged in Using the Noncdb Manifest File and Plug the PDDB12C Database. ==- set environment to CDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- CREATE PLUGGABLE DATABASE NCDB USING 'E:\app\oracle\manifest\NCDB_manifest_file.xml' COPY FILE_NAME_CONVERT = ('E:\APP\ORACLE\ORADATA\NCDB\', 'E:\app\oracle\oradata\CDB1\'); Note: "Below options are supported and you can chose one based on the env" 1) COPY: The datafiles of noncdb remains intact and it is copied to create PDBs at new locations and keep original datafiles intact at the original location. (This would mean that a noncdb database would still be operational after the creation of a PDB). 2) MOVE: The datafiles of noncdb are moved to a new location to create a PDB. In this case, noncdb database would not be available after a PDB is created. NOCOPY: The datafiles of noncdb are used to create a PDB2 and it uses same existing location. In this case, a noncdb database would not be available after a PDB is created. You can use FILE_NAME_CONVERT parameter to specify the new location of the datafiles while using COPY or MOVE option. Step 8. Once Step 7 Completes Successfully, Switch to the PDB Container and Run the "$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/noncdb_to_pdb.sql". ==- set environment to CDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- alter session set container=NCDB ==- @$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/noncdb_to_pdb.sql Step 9. Startup the PDB and Check the Open Mode. ==- set environment to CDB ==- sqlplus / as sysdba ==- ALTER PLUGGABLE DATABASE OPEN; ==-SELECT name, open_mode FROM v$pdbs;

Regular Expressions (Regex) Tutorial: How to Match Any Pattern of Text
In this regular expressions (regex) tutorial, we're going to be learning how to match patterns of text. Regular expressions are extremely useful for matching common patterns of text such as email addresses, phone numbers, URLs, etc. Almost every programming language has a regular expression library, so learning regular expressions with not only help you with finding patterns in your text editors, but also you'll be able to use these programming libraries to search for patterns programmatically as well. How To Edit MySql Engine Parameters Of an Amazon RDS Instance
PHP Web Technology Funda | AWS Cloud Read my blog here : https://www.howtoinmagento.com/ Before editing DB engine parameters, lets know about DB parameter group. We can manage DB engine configuration through the parameters in a DB parameter group. A default DB parameter group is created while creating new DB instance. We cannot modify the parameter settings of a default DB parameter group directly. If we want to edit any existing parameter value then we must create new custom DB parameter group rather than default group. Once you create custom DB parameter group, it will show you all the parameters in list and details like which parameters are editable, default value and parameter type for example dynamic or static. Some important points about DB parameter group: When we edit a dynamic parameter and save, the change is applied immediately regardless of the Apply Immediately setting. When we edit a static parameter and save, the parameter change will take effect after you manually reboot the DB instance. When we change the DB parameter group associated with a DB instance, you must manually reboot the instance before the new custom DB parameter group is used by the DB instance. The parameter value can be specified as an integer or as an integer expression built from formulas, variables, functions & operators. Note: Improperly setting parameters in a DB parameter group can have unintended adverse effects, including degraded performance and system instability. You should try out parameter group setting changes on a test DB instance before applying those parameter group changes to a production DB instance. Steps To Edit my.ini Parameters Of an Amazon RDS Instance: 1: Sign in to your AWS Management Console and search "RDS" in "AWS Service" search box. 2: Once you find RDS service, Open that Amazon RDS console page. 3: On left side panel click on "Instances" menu, then click on your "DB instance" 4: Click on "Parameter groups" menu from left panel then click on "Create parameter group" button 5: Select "Parameter group family" as per your default parameter group,in my case I will select "mysql5.6" 6: Enter new "Group name" like custom-test-group 7: Enter Description for the DB parameter group 8: Then click on "Create" button, it will create new custom Parameter group. 9: Now click "Parameter groups" menu from left panel again, it will list new recently created parameter group 10: Click on that new custom parameter group, You will see "Parameters" filter option. 11: Search for parameter you want to update the value like "wait_timeout" and click on "Edit parameters" button 12: You can add value from range mention in "Allowed values" column of that parameter. like 1-31536000 for "wait_timeout" parameter. 13: Once you done with changes, click on "Save Changes" button, It will save all recent parameter changes. 14: After this we need to associate this new custom parameter group to our DB Instance. 15: On left side panel click on "Instances" menu again, then click on your "DB instance". On the right top corner click on "Instance Action" drop-down then click on "Modify" menu. 16: You will see "Modify DB Instance" page, Now scroll down and go to "Database options" section and select newly created custom parameter group from "DB parameter group" dropbox. 17: Click on "Continue" button, It will take some time to apply new parameter group. 18: Once done Step 17, Again On left side panel click on "Instances" menu, then click on your "DB instance". On the right top corner click on "Instance Action" drop-down then click on "Reboot" menu. Happy Learning AWS Services!!!! :) Still Doubts? lets put your questions in below comment box! Thanks! GEOG 485L/585L Lecture - Interoperability Standards: WMS, KML and XML
This lecture introduces XML as a core specification upon which key geospatial interoperability standards are based. It then describes the KML standard as a model for encoding both geospatial data and information about the representation of those data in a standard format that is broadly supported by diverse applications. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Web Map Service (WMS) Standard is presented as a method for accessing visualizations of geospatial data from remote servers and the model for integrating WMS services into KML for efficient delivery of dynamically generated map images into mapping clients that support this feature of the KML standard is introduced.

Character Encodings (Jack)
When you're developing software in the U.S. for a predominantly American user base, it's easy to be complacent about character encodings, because most of what you're doing falls comfortably within the ASCII space. But, as soon as you want to allow your users to use foreign characters, or even standard latin characters with accents (contained, for example, in many Spanish words), you need to be aware of how to correctly use Unicode to store, retrieve, and display your users' data. This talk delves into a real-world example of how this can go wrong if you're not paying attention.

Updating XML Documents with FME - An Introduction to the XMLUpdater
Often users are presented with the challenge of updating existing XML documents. This task is quite different from the task of reading or writing an xml document. Scenarios where this can play out is around "metadata". Organizations may have many different metadata documents that need to be updated. The XML Templating technology of FME is great for creating XML documents but not at all applicable if you merely want to update them. This is an introduction video to the XML Update Transformer of FME 2012.
