Amsterdam Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
http://www.expedia.com/Amsterdam.d178229.Destination-Travel-Guides Amsterdam is the largest city in The Netherlands, also known as Holland. The fun-loving Dutch welcome 3.5 million tourists a year, making Amsterdam one of the top destinations in Europe. No Amsterdam tour is complete without exploring some of its 165 canals and 1,000 bridges – hopefully you like water. Don’t worry; you don’t need a boat or even a motor vehicle to get around. The heart of this ancient city is best seen on foot or from the seat of a bicycle. This city is rich in history; when you set out to explore “The Venice of the North,” you’ll find buildings dating back to the 13th century, as well as Dam Square and its royal palace. If you’ve got an appreciation for fine art, your Amsterdam sightseeing should pause at the Rijksmuseum, where you can find the works of Rembrandt and other Dutch masters. Up for a pint? Stop by the old Heineken Brewery and learn about the lager brewing process. If you’re really feeling daring, grab a coffee in De Wallen, better known as one of the world’s oldest red light districts. You won’t get into trouble with your partner if you head there these days; it’s now home to cafes and adult stores. It’s about a four and a half hours’ journey by Eurostar or it’s just an hour’s flight from London. It’s one of the most popular destinations in Europe. Millions of people are drawn in by the laid-back culture, hundreds of museums and galleries and, of course, the famous Red Light District, home to legalised prostitution and soft drugs. Amsterdam is served by Amsterdam Schiphol, the world’s fifth busiest airport. It’s not far from the city and there are trains, buses or taxis to take you the short journey to the centre. Trains take about 20 minutes to Amsterdam Centraal Station and you can get tickets on Schiphol Plaza outside Arrivals. There are ten train stations in Amsterdam, so make sure you get to the one that’s nearest your hotel. We found the train to be quick, efficient and cheap. It’s definitely our recommended way to get in to the city. You can take the 197 bus from bus stop B9 outside the airport. It takes about 40 minutes to get to the city centre. The bus was crowded and we had to stand the whole way, so we’d only recommend it if you’re staying in the south. You can book a taxi on Schiphol.nl. However, taxis are expensive and will cost you around €50. Amsterdam’s fairly compact, with most sites fairly easy walking distance of each other. You can get from Centraal Station to Van Gogh Museum in the south, for example, in around 40 minutes by foot. However, there are lots of ways to get around the city quickly if you prefer. The tram is usually your best option. The stops are frequent and tickets are cheap. There are maps at every stop but we recommend downloading GVB’s app to help plan your route. When it comes to tickets, we recommend getting an iamsterdam card. It gives you unlimited use of public transport, as well as free entry to many of the city’s hundreds of attractions and museums. Amsterdam is the most bike-friendly capital city in the world and it shows. All roads have dedicated cycle paths and riding round the city was surprisingly easy, even in the rain! The locals can be quite impatient with tourists, so we recommend waiting until you’ve been in Amsterdam for a day or two, just so you can get a feel for how the system works. Remember to treat the cycle lanes as you would a normal road back home. Obey the traffic lights and stop for pedestrians at zebra crossings. You’ll see lots of locals ignoring the rules but you’ll be okay if you stick to them. De Pijp has the widest variety of restaurants and bars. We’d suggest checking out the Albert Cuypmarkt for some Dutch stroopwafels. The Marie Heinekenplein is also here, home to lots of bars and the Heineken brewery. Foodies, De Pijp is for you. De Wallen is home to Amsterdam’s Red Light District, made famous by its coffee shops and legalised prostitution. There are many companies offering tours of the area that’ll show you its many secrets. We recommend AmsterdamRedLightDistrictTour.com. They provided us with a fun and informative tour and were happy to answer all of our many questions. Museumplein in the south is home to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum. The currency in Holland is the Euro and prices are generally lower than you’ll find in London. Expect to pay about the same in Euros as you would in Pounds but remember that beer is a little bit more expensive. Lots of places in Amsterdam have free wifi, including popular tourist attractions like here, in the Van Gogh Museum. WifiAmsterdam.nl has a list of free wifi spots across Amsterdam.

How to Plan the Ultimate Pot Vacation | MERRY JANE News
Subscribe to the MERRY JANE Newsletter for the latest video release and everything cannabis: https://goo.gl/Yc7jSN Spring has officially begun, and that means the most important week of the year is drawing closer: spring break. The traditional week where people across the country blow off steam by making up for all of the partying they’ve missed so far is bound to be even crazier this year. Well, if you’re one of the lucky people to visit any of the green-friendly destinations here in America, that is—and we have a few more states to add to the list this year. Our nation’s capital and the eight states that have legalized recreational marijuana (Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington) will be prime destinations for those looking to smoke up with a little less paranoia than people living other places, like a particular area in New York. But just because weed is legal in these states, it doesn’t mean it’s just a cannabis free-for-all. There could be varying restrictions between the different states, including how many ounces of green you can carry. Don’t assume the police are going to be sympathetic if you’re holding 2.5 ounces of recreational weed in a state that only allows an ounce. So, we’ve pieced together your go-to playbook for enjoying a cannabis-filled spring break while ensuring you make it back to your day job without a hitch. Netherlands Summary Travel Video – Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, Delft, Rotterdam, Haarlem, Holland
Taking you on a grand journey through the Netherlands, starting with a visit to Haarlem, travelling then down to Leiden, spending three nights in Leiden, doing a few day trips out from there. Then I’ll take you to Delft for three more nights and excursions out from Delft such as to The Hague which is the political capital of the nation. http://tourvideos.com/ And then on to Rotterdam the great modern city of the Netherlands, continuing to Utrecht, a university town with a very large historic center and then down to Maastricht in the southern part of the country. I'll also be going up to the Alkmaar cheese market which is a lot of fun. It happens once a week and it’s a big touristic event. They re-create what it was like in the old days with the cheese market and the guys running around carrying her sleds full of giant Gouda cheeses, but here in the Netherlands they don't say Gouda, it's 'Howda.' I'll take you to that town of Gouda as well and show you where they make the cheese. And then up to Amsterdam for the grand finale. I’m staying two nights or three nights in place, in Amsterdam six nights, so I’ll be providing quite thorough coverage showing you the shopping streets and the museums, the old historic neighborhoods, the old brick buildings and going on some canal boat rides as well – that’s one of the real fun things to do when you’re in the Netherlands. In each of the towns I’ll be walking because these towns are compact and historic and have so many things to see while walking around. And occasionally you can hop on a tram or hop on a bus and that helps you get along. Maybe you want to rent a bicycle. Everybody here is on bicycles. The Netherlands is a land of canals and bicycles and beautifully and preserved old towns such as Delft and Leiden seem like the architecture hasn’t changed in the last 300 years. And it’s really quite a revelation to see how modern everything is at the same time The people of course are highly educated. They have some of the top universities in the world in the Netherlands, and the higher education is all but free for those who are interested. And it’s just a nation of friendly people, smart people, very productive people as well. Fortunately for us, just about all of them speak very good English, so it’s very easy to get by when you are visiting here. I’ll be spending three weeks traveling by train, and the Netherlands has got perhaps the best train system in Europe. Yes maybe even better Switzerland. It’s phenomenal. The trains are clean, fast, frequent. The foods are great. You can have a reasonable lunch for about €12, say the equivalent of no more than $15 – often it’s a good hearty sandwich and a cappuccino or a beer. Of course the Dutch love their beer. And they also drink a lot of wine as well. They don’t produce wine, but being in Europe, in the center of Europe, it is very easy for them to bring in wines from not just France and Italy and Spain but all over the world actually. You see always a good variety on menus, but especially it's the beer. They must have dozens of varieties of beer that are brewed right here in the Netherlands. Now people also call this country Holland and that’s a common mistake actually because Holland is just part of the Netherlands. It's two provinces on the Western side but the country actually the Netherlands. And the people are Dutch, they speak Dutch. It’s a unique language. It’s a separate language but has similarities to German and to Danish. I’m traveling in the in the month of September which is a good time to be here, and I got real lucky with the weather so far, it has been perfect. It’s been let’s say 75°F 20° 22°C, just very comfortable and actually a bit warmer that should be at this time of year and that’s a good thing, sometimes you get lucky. So it’s a real excursion through the Netherlands, not just visiting Amsterdam. Even if you are only going to Amsterdam you should spend 4 to 5 days there so you can do some day trips because the country is pretty small and you can travel all way to the Hague for example by train in about 45 minutes from Amsterdam, so it could be a home base for you. Traveling for three weeks in this wonderful country was a great experience, including all the way down to Maastricht at the southern tip of the Netherlands, and a little side trip over to Aachen in Germany to see the Cathedral dating back to the year 800. You're going to love this upcoming series of movies about the Netherlands. We will focus on Amsterdam, of course. I spent a week in this wonderful city. We will have pictures of the museums, the restaurants, the canals, the streets, the old buildings, Rembrandt's house – and yes it took a lot of walking to get these shots. It was three weeks on foot. The Netherlands presents the visitor with the wonderful variety of sights to see. You're going to love this upcoming series of movies about the Netherlands.

Visiting the Canals | Amsterdam Travel
Watch more How to Visit Amsterdam videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/512232-Visiting-the-Canals-Amsterdam-Travel Planning a trip to Amsterdam? Learn about the city's beautiful canals in this travel video. Tips include making time to take a cruise on them; it's one of the best ways to enjoy Amsterdam's architecture. "Even if you do nothing else in Amsterdam, you have to explore the canals. They might just be the most impressive things you’ll find in the city, and it isn’t even hard to find them–they’re everywhere. Amsterdam’s nickname is Venice of the North, but at about 160, there are actually even more canals in Amsterdam than in Venice. They’re centuries old and stretch for miles, because the city was designed around them. There are well over a thousand beautiful bridges, so you probably won’t have time to cross them all, but you can still get the most out of the canals by taking a cruise on them–which happens to be the best way to take in Amsterdam’s beautiful, historic architecture. A variety of tours are offered, so be sure to search for one that appeals to you when you’re planning your trip. Amsterdam wouldn’t be the same without its canals, and you won’t really have seen Amsterdam until you’ve explored them."

Amsterdam Travel Guide & Tips 2018 by Pakistani Couple
First tip if you're planning to stay in Amsterdam, stay near the city center so that everything is close to you since there is plenty of walking already. Start walking from Amsterdam central station to waterlooplein . This way you'll be able to explore dam square, rokin and other areas. There is a street on the back side of Dam square, which has all the brands. Once you explore this go for Red light district. It's interesting to see why this street is one of the most popular streets in the world 😅 Next, you can visit the Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum. That area is beautiful. The IAMSTERDAM sign is located in that area, so you definitely can't miss it. Canals are the highlight of Amsterdam, and it's a great idea to explore the city while cruising if your feet are tired 💁🏻‍♀️ Other attractions include Ripley's believe it or not museum and Madame Tussauds. If you love beer then obviously Heineken experience should be on your list. We dont drink so had to skip it 😛 Once you do all this you have covered whole of amsterdam city. If you have another day, you can go for the Best of Holland tour where you visit the Dutch country side including the windmill tour, Volendam cheese factory tour, and other cities of Netherlands like Delft and the hague and madurodam miniature park. It was a full day tour 11+ hrs. Buy the tickets from amsterdam instead of buying them online! You might save a few bucks. You can do all this if you stay for three days in amsterdam . But make sure you carry your credit cards because you'll need to travel in tram and they don't accept cash. They accept cash for just day pass which would cost you more if you're here for more than one day as you can buy 48 hr pass. Amsterdam was quite expensive though. A water bottle costed us 3 euro while we got it for around 50-60 cents in other cities. Overall, Amsterdam was one of my most favorite cities We've been to by far! It's so happening, you can't have enough of it.

New Orleans Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
http://www.expedia.com/New-Orleans.d178292.Destination-Travel-Guides Come on down to New Orleans, better known as The Big Easy. Dive headfirst into a melting pot of French, African, and Brazilian culture meshed with many different religions, foods, and of course jazz. Let the good times roll in the French Quarter, the birthplace of jazz, when you visit its numerous bars, clubs, and restaurants. To really kick up your partying skills a notch, head to Bourbon Street, where festivals and late nights are a way of life. For a slightly more sedate New Orleans sightseeing trip, visit Jackson Square, where you can tour historic buildings like the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral. Plan a trip to Memorial Hall and learn about the Civil War, or walk through Lafayette Cemetery to see one of the country’s most haunted graveyards. If you’d rather avoid a run-in with a ghost, you’ll find an assortment of galleries and boutiques throughout the city, so you can satisfy your desire for art and shopping. Washington D.C. Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
http://www.expedia.com/Washington.d178318.Destination-Travel-Guides Take in the many splendors of the nation’s capital when you arrive at Washington, D.C. Your Washington, D.C. tour should start at the National Mall, where you’ll find monuments, memorials, and government buildings instead of tons of shopping. If you’d like to get around town easily but don’t want to rent a car, the Capital Bikeshare program will let you cruise around the city without wasting gas or getting stuck in traffic. Check out the Watergate Hotel and Kennedy Center when you stop at Foggy Bottom, then move on to Georgetown, the oldest district in D.C. It’s filled with 18th-century buildings and, of course, the university itself. After a stop at the National Cathedral, make your way to the Smithsonian National Zoo, the perfect stop for the young and the young at heart. If you’re feeling the need to channel your inner 007, go to the International Spy Museum, and learn about the covert operations and intelligence agencies that have shaped the world we live in. Of course, you can’t enjoy any Washington, D.C., tourism without admiring the White House, so make sure that’s on your list too. Visit our Washington, D.C., travel guide page for more information or to plan your next vacation! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/
