In this video, I’m showing you a 4 step plan that can attack the most common posture flaws to give you a nice, tall, upright posture sooner than you think. I’m going to show you how to hit correct rounded shoulders, a hunched back, crooked neck, forward head and tilted pelvis. When you apply the easy drills shown here you will start to feel better almost instantly and work towards permanently fixing your bad posture. The four biggest problem areas for those with bad posture is the neck, shoulders, mid back and pelvis. Specifically, if you spend a lot of time sitting at a desk or behind the wheel you will wind up getting slumping shoulders and a rounded back. To counteract the head being pulled downward, you wind up tilting your head up so you can look straight ahead. This has the effect of overarching your neck and weakening the deep neck flexors. Finally, when the upper spine curves forward, the pelvis winds up curling under. This posterior pelvic tilt is something that adaptively tightens the hamstrings and weakens the lower back. If you want to fix your posture you have to hit each of these areas with individualized attention. These are efficient and effective but do need your consistency in order to make a lasting impact on the correction. The funny thing about posture is that we often spend a lifetime doing the things that ruin our posture in the first place, yet expect that we will be able to fix it in an hour. While not an hour, these posture correction exercises will have an immediate impact on the way you feel. You should feel as if you have more mobility in the tightened areas and that your body begins to move more free and easy. From here, with a bit of consistency you will be able to make permanent changes in your posture that will have you feeling stronger and looking much better than you do now. An important note on posture and working out, that I referenced earlier, is that it is not a good idea to lift weights when your body is severely out of alignment. All you are doing is strengthening poor posture and dysfunction. Lifting weights in the presence of dysfunction is quickly going to lead to not only other compensations elsewhere in the kinetic chain but likely wind up in injury. It is much smarter to fix the issues with your posture first and then strengthen your body to reinforce the new perfect posture. Some of the sleeping postures may be bad. If so, new sleeping patterns should be considered. Among the following, what is your preferred position? 1. The Fetal Position This is one of the most common sleeping posture, and around 40% of people claim that they find it most comfortable. The bad news is that this position is unfortunately the unhealthiest. It causes backaches and does harm to joints. Experts warn that it can affect also your neck and shoulders. During the night they should be aligned. If you cannot avoid sleeping in the fetus position, doctors recommend you should put a pillow between the knees. In such way you’ll alleviate stress on your joints. 2. On Your Back Those who prefer to sleep on their back have a tendency to snore at night, BUT on the other side this posture is the most beneficial of all. It is particularly good if you have back problems, and it will also resolve neck issues. We sometimes speculate why we feel pain in the back on neck without even realizing that the main reason could be our sleeping position. Sleep on your back if you want to look younger for longer. This position causes fewer fine lines and wrinkles, because there is no pressing on your face. Moreover, this posture allows you to keep the breasts supported, which prevents sagging. 3. Left Side The left side position not only does it reduce acid reflux, but it can also prevent neck and back pains. There’s a disadvantage, though – it is not the best posture for the breasts. The breasts are not supported, which leads to sagging. Since the left side posture stimulates blood circulation to the uterus, it is great for pregnant women. 4. Right Side The right side posture may cause heartburn. On the other hand, this position is similar to the last one – they both are good for people suffering from back or neck issues. Unfortunately, also this position causes sagging breasts and wrinkles. 5. On Your Stomach Many doctors agree on the fact that there is nothing as bad as sleeping on your stomach. This position causes different health problems and should be absolutely avoided. If this is your preferred posture, do not be surprised if you find out that something is wrong with your back. Sleeping in this way, during the night you put too much pressure on your joints and muscles. Consequently, you may feel numbness and pain. Sleeping on your stomach, you keep your neck in a rotated position for too long. If this is done regularly, then you will have bad blood circulation and problems in breathing. The only good thing about sleeping on your belly is that you are unlikely to snore at night and disturb whoever is sleeping by your side. In conclusion, we know that, regardless of health benefits, people sleep in the position they find comfiest. If you can, try to correct your posture, now that you know the pro and the cons of each position. If you realize you need to change something in your posture, it will probably be challenging in the beginning, to sleep in a position that is not the one you are used to. Perfect Posture in 5 Steps (BAD POSTURE BUSTER!)

That said, I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that the postural advice and tips we are being given to try and help straighten us out are doing more harm than good. Learning how to get good posture can be downright confusing. In this video, I’m going to show you 5 simple steps to perfect posture that you can actually implement by the time you are done watching. Going to throw in a drill that you can do that will help to keep the posture for the long term as well. In order to achieve perfect posture you must have a respect for how important it is in the first place. When you are lifting weights, you should always be sure to try and lift from a position of biomechanical strength. When you have bad posture, you are asking your body to try and produce force out of a compromised position. You not only end up being far weaker from this position but you are begging for an injury as well. You can start to fix bad posture by starting from the top down. Here, we want to first focus on the neck. Now many people will tell you that you have to focus on the chin and on tucking it back or standing against a wall and retracting it into the wall. This is not only awkward but hard to tell when you are even doing it right. Instead, you can get your neck into a vertical position in the middle cervical segments by simply standing sideways in a mirror and correcting the forward angle of the neck. Next you want to work on those shoulders. Again, here you are told to pinch your shoulder blades together. This becomes a problem because when you don’t do this correctly you wind up looking like a chicken. Instead, you can accomplish both the back and down movements of the shoulders by focusing on the sternum or breast bone instead. Make sure that the top of it is not angled downwards at all, but rather completely level (as if a glass of water). Next you want to be sure that you engage your abs. I’m not talking about flexing them but rather contracting them so that you can support your spine from below. This simply requires you to tighten your midsection and hold it without holding your breath. Next we control the position of the hips and pelvis. Due to all of the sitting we do throughout the day, we have a high tendency to have tightened hip flexors that pull our pelvis into anterior tilt. You can quickly counteract this with a squeeze of the glutes. This activation of the posterior chain muscles will pull your pelvis into a posterior tilt. If you are already anteriorly rotated this will most likely get you back to neutral, which is good. Finally, the knees always have a tendency to give in and flex a bit. This causes you to sag and hang on your pelvic ligaments. Instead, actively contract your quads and this will straighten you up and lock in your posture. Perform the exercise shown at the end a couple times per day to train these dormant postural muscles how to engage when you are not thinking about it. FIX Forward Head Posture! (Daily Corrective Routine)
Forward head posture (also known as “text neck”) is not something you should just ignore as it can have a major impact on your aesthetic, long-term health, neck pain, and even affect certain lifts your performance in the gym. Luckily, forward head posture correction is simple given that you perform the proper exercises and stretches. When it comes to the forward head posture “fix”, you need to focus on two things; stretching/massaging the muscles that have become shortened and using exercises to strengthen the muscles that have become weakened. Although I wouldn’t call it a quick fix to forward head posture, given that you perform what is shown in this video daily and stick to the stretches/exercises consistently you’ll see major improvements pretty quickly. I suggest taking a picture of your forward head posture before starting the routine, and after a week or two in order to track your progress. Proper squat form requires that you keep your head up, back angled slightly forward but straight, knees traveling outward as you descend, elbows tucked and chest out. Even with all of these tips and cues on how to squat properly, there is one major squat flaw that is still commonly performed. In this squat tutorial video I show you how to perform the squat exercise correctly by paying attention to the alignment of the hips in the transverse plane. Even when your feet are square and your chest is square to your feet, you can still mistakenly allow your hips to open up. This creates a rotational torsion on the pelvis. Though likely very small in absolute motion, this can lead to biomechanical changes in your squat that can cause hip, knee and back pain over time. It's important to learn how to squat properly and to learn proper squat form if you want to keep your gains coming while minimizing injuries to other joints. Form is an important part of any exercise, but it's critical when it comes to the squat, given the loads that are often involved in the lift. The same issue applies to the deadlift as well. In order to fix this squatting flaw you have to consciously contract your gluteus before every repetition of the squat. This will correct the alignment of the pelvis and make sure that your hips are not left open prior to the descent. It takes just an extra second per rep, but will pay large dividends to both your joint health as well as the gains you can see from your leg workouts. 5 Low Impact Exercises to Build Muscle and Strength (Yoga Postures for Men)

Many people are interested in our fitness-centric form of yoga for men because it is a low-impact alternative to weights or traditional exercise, which are higher-impact and can be accompanied by discomfort, pain, or recurring injury. I want to show you 5 postures that are extremely effective for building muscle and increasing your strength, and give you some tips on how to incorporate them into your workout routine. View these 5 poses - along with target areas, benefits, key technique points, and more - below! Pose #1 - Deep Squat - Our first pose is the Deep Squat, and this one is possibly my favorite. It’s an essential exercise for your lower-body that also helps your core, your spine, and even your overall posture. Target areas: Glutes, Hips, Core, Thighs, & Ankles Benefits: - Improve muscle activation in your glutes. - Strengthens hips - By keeping chest up during deep squat, you develop core awareness during squats, preventing injury or discomfort to your spine and back during exercise Addresses root causes of knee pain and helps to prevent injury Hold for 30-60 seconds. Repeat 2-3 times. Pose #2 - The Yoga Push-Up The yoga push-up is an extremely effective exercise for building strength in the shoulders and chest. In traditional yoga, this movement is done quickly, ineffectively, and often with improper technique. By doing this movement slowly, however, you can strength, increase muscle, and end your workout feeling significantly challenged in your upper-body. This movement is actually a combination of 2 or 3 poses - the plank, the low plank, and then updog (alternatively, one may return to high plank). It’s different from a traditional push-up in that much more of the weight if forward in the shoulders, making it more difficult for the upper part of the torso, and also preparing the user to move from low-plank to updog. Go super slow. At a minimum, perform at least 5 reps, or about 20 seconds total of push-ups. You can also hold the low plank position for 15-30 seconds to build isometric strength and work on technique. Target Areas: Chest, shoulders, upper-back, arms, core Benefits: - Builds upper-body muscle mass, strength and endurance - Strengthens wrists and forearms - Strengthens core Pose #3 - Warrior 2 Warrior 2 is a quintessential yoga posture that helps to build strength and mobility in your hips, core, and your ankles. It’s a great way to build mobility in your hips while also building strength and endurance in your lower-body. This posture starts from a wide-legged stance. To get into Warrior 2, simply turn your front (right) foot to face sideways, keeping your hips and shoulders squared forward, and bend into the knee until your ankle is directly above the knee. Hold for at least 30 seconds, and up to 90 seconds. Repeat 1-2x on both sides. Be mindful of technique for the duration of the exercise. Target Areas: Hips, core, ankles Pose #4 - Warrior 3 Warrior 3 is a very challenging but extremely rewarding balancing posture that strengthens your entire body. It addresses shoulder mobility & upper-back strength, core strength, hamstring mobility, hip strength, and ankles. It improves posture, prevents injury in your shoulders, lower-back and knees, and even helps to strengthen your glutes. There’s very little this doesn’t help with! Hold this for 15-30 seconds. It’s really intense, so you don’t need to hold it that long. Repeat 1-2x on both sides. It helps to do some warm-up before jumping straight into this one - make sure your warm-up hits your hips, core, ankles, and upper-back/shoulders. Target Areas: Core, hamstrings, hips, shoulders, back Benefits: - Strengthens lower body, core, and upper-body - Improves hamstring and shoulder mobility - Decreases risk of lower-body, back, and shoulder injury Pose #5 - Cobra The cobra pose is one of the best yoga postures in yoga. The main reason it is one of the best postures is because it focuses on backbending with proper technique. When doing cobra correctly, you are strengthening your spine, opening your chest and shoulders, building endurance and strength in your lower-body, and also strengthening your core. It addresses the root cause of back pain, improves your posture, and even increases your energy & elevates your mood. Hold for 20-45 seconds. Repeat 1-2x. How to Walk with Confidence | Do's and Don'ts
The walk. It’s one of the first ways to make an impression on someone, and you want to make it good, right? Here are some of the immediate Advantages in walking correctly: Postural training - which can really help you in the long run as bad posture can wreak havoc over the years on your body. Attention grabbing - sure, you can grab attention walking improperly but it’s usually for all the wrong reasons. You wanna be a Buff Dude, not just a Dude. Mental wellness - With a confident stride you just feel better. Now keep in mind you don’t have to overdo the walk and feel goofy, but just enough where you feel strong, confident and ready to take on the world. And lastly it sets you apart from the normies, which is always nice. So let’s go over the do’s and the do-not’s of walking with confidence. DO: Chest Up, Shoulders Back and Back Straight Don’t cover them up, show off those chesticles with pride. Pec popping optional. Back straight with your chest up and shoulders back is one of the main signs of confidence, so doing this one is a must. But remember not to overdue this one or you’ll be the stick-up-his-ass-dude. Come on, you know who we’re talking about. DO NOT: Slouch - In addition to bad posture, which could lead to health problems down the road, slouching shows a lack of confidence and usually sets off a chain reaction of ‘do nots’ when it comes to walking such as shoulders forward, back hunched and chest pointed towards the ground. So no slouching. Don’t become an Egor, chest up, back straight! DO: Eyes Up - Keeping your eyes up is a sign of confidence and shows you aren't afraid to make eye contact with people walking in the opposite direction. And don’t stare em down or quickly dart your eyes away, if you happen to make eye contact, give em a smile, nod and a good morning, good day or good evening depending on the time. DO NOT: Eyes Down - keeping your eyes down is usually a sign you are scared and don’t want to interact or engage in conversation with anything except your shoes. And hey, truthfully not all of us feel like interacting all the time. But try and keep your eyes forward as much as you can, as keeping them down for long periods of time could be habit forming, and bad habits die hard. DO: Hands Relaxed - keeping your hands out in the open indicates confidence and shows people you have nothing to hide. You do have nothing to hide, don’t you? Also, don’t clench your fists, you’ll look like you wanna fight someone, struggling to hold in a fart or can’t wait to tell someone you’re a vegan. DO NOT: Hands in Pockets - putting your hands in your pockets encourages slouching in addition to making you look nervous, which is no good. Quit playing pocket pool and take those hands out and let them sway side to side, in perfect stride with your Buff Dudes pride. DO: Walk Confident - Walk with purpose, like you know where you want to go and how to get there. Confidence is a part of your character and you have to not only talk the talk but also walk the walk. Look at the animal kingdom, you don’t see a lion, bear or silverback gorilla looking insecure. They know they’re the baddest animals around and you should too. But remember, confident not cocky. DO NOT: Quick, Nervous Walk - Alice in Wonderland. What’s the first thing that comes to mind? No, drugs wasn’t the answer. What I was thinking of was the White Rabbit. And what was he known for? It was his quick, nervous shuffle as he constantly attempted to avoid Alice. He displayed a major lack of confidence in addition to avoiding another golden rule: If you’re not 15 minutes early, you’re late. The nervous shuffle wasn’t a good look for him, and it’s not a good look for you - even if you’re late, late, for a very important date.

Considering the airway is at the back of the face, having a receded chin or maxilla could hinder your airway, having big implications for sleep apnea. Clarification on the title: I of course don't mean to suggest that attractiveness depends *only* on tongue posture. Nutrition of the mother and nutrition of the person during formative years surely play a very large role in how the face develops. In fact, the book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration would suggest that; fat soluble vitamins being very important for fertility and proper development of young, with grains & sugar ("modern foods") being very detrimental for development and oral health especially. Oral posture would be another piece of the puzzle. NOTE ON SUTURE FUSION: I wish I had used the phrasing "these sutures are not *completely* fused together," or "sutures are not *completely closed* ..." It's understood that after birth, the sutures of the skull "fuse" together by age 2 or so. One study found that complete closure of certain sutures does not occur until as late as 70 years old. Another found that “The human frontozygomatic suture undergoes synostosis during the eigth decade of life, but does not completely fuse by the age of 95 years" based on 61 human cadavers aged 20 to 95. That word can really be thrown around, I'm not sure there really is correct running form, but there is running form that could make your run a lot more comfortable. Starting from head to toe, when you're running, you want to keep your chin down a little bit, you almost want to fell like you're, there's a thread at the top of your head, pulling you up. You don't want your chin too down, because you'll actually close off your airway a little bit. And you don't want your chin too far up, because you're not really sure where all that energy's going, and you can feel that tension in your neck start to happen when you do raise your chin a little bit. So try to keep your head level a little bit. Notice where you're holding tension. Slowly, through a long run, you can start to feel your shoulders creep up a little bit, and you can feel that tension in your shoulders and your neck. So if you relax a little bit, it can also help you reduce the amount of energy that you're using for your run. Now what you want to do with your arms, hold your elbows at about a ninety degree angle, and hold a very small fist, almost having your fingertips just touching the palm of your hand, and just relax your hands. And throughout your run, when you start to feel tension building up, just shake your arms out a little bit and relax your shoulder. Hold your torso up, straight. Engage your core so that you're holding up a good posture when you're moving forward. Don't lean forward, at your waist, just kind of gradually from your ankles all the way up to your shoulders, lean forward a little bit. So with your feet, when you're landing on the ground, you want to land on the ground right in the midfoot to the balls of your feet. Sometimes when you land on your heels, you're actually landing too far ahead of your body, so what happens is when your bodyweight hits the ground, you're creating this shock that's going all the way up through your ankles, your knees, and your hips. Again, over time that can cause a lot of discomfort and possibly an injury. So again, try to think about having your foot land right underneath your bodyweight, and with your hips, make sure your hips are forward, and make sure your hips are stable. One great thing about doing core exercises for running is that it keeps your entire core area stable while you're running. Sometimes when you're out running you might see people whose hips dip a little bit with each run. That can also cause injury down the road, so try to keep those stable, keep your hips stable, keep your hips pointed down, but you also don't want them pointed up too much. Just go in the direction that you're running. And when you're running and swinging your arms, swinging your arms forward but being careful not to swing your arms across your midline. What that does is that it almost throws off your balance a little bit. Keep your arms moving forward and again, keep your arms relaxed, keep your hands relaxed, but again try not to go across your midline too much. Just keep them back and forth. Let your arms do what they want to do, but keep them controlled just a little bit. Just try to stay in tune with your body, and just check in every once in a while and notice where you're holding tension. Starting a running program can be hard enough as it is, but when you start to notice how much tension you're holding it can take more energy away then you actually realize, and as you start to build up in your runs, maybe working towards that ten mile race, or working towards that half marathon, it can deplete a lot of energy that you're working so hard to get through the race for. Just try to relax, try to relax and have fun.

Fix more than just your posture by training like an athlete here http://athleanx.com/x/complete-workout-program One of the most common posture faults caused by lifting weights and working out is the rounded shoulder posture or hunchback. If you want to lift the most weight you can in your shoulder workouts then you will need to fix your posture first. In this video I show you a quick posture test you can do to assess how bad your posture really is without having to wait for the results. Simply stand up and let your arms hang at your sides. Notice where your thumbs are pointing. Are they pointing inward, towards each other or are they pointing straight ahead? If you answered the latter, then your shoulders are likely internally rotated and this bad posture is having an effect on you working out. To feel what correct posture for working out should feel like, slip a resistance band over your shoulders as I show you. This should immediately fix or correct the rounded shoulders or hunchback and make you feel much more upright. You can even do a few lifts or a complete workout wearing this band contraption so you can feel what your shoulders should feel like in proper alignment. In order to correct your posture and learn how to make permanent changes here you need to start using that same band to do band pull aparts. The band pull apart exercise is great for improving your posture because it trains the inter scapular muscles like the rhomboids and upper traps to retract the scapulae. It also externally rotates the arms and strengthens the muscles of the rotator cuff. The added strength will allow you to fix even the worst postures and reverse the effects of kyphosis.
