My FULL Amazon FBA UK Course: https://goo.gl/kdLHBW FREE AMAZON FBA UK FACEBOOK GROUP: https://goo.gl/TBPSnn FREE AMAZON FBA UK SELLERS GROUP: https://goo.gl/FpFLcQ 👌SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/jonnybradley Adam Marsek - FBA Forwarding Limited Email: [email protected] Mention that he came recommended by Jonny Bradley Full list of Shipping terms: http://www.mainfreight.be/en/info_point/incoterms.aspx CORRECTION*: The term co-loading means transferring cargo by a freight forwarder to another carrier either to a freight forwarder or consolidator. (Middleman) - Freight Charge Terms FOB – Free on Board (or Freight on Board). This basically means that the cost of delivering the goods to the nearest port is included but YOU, as the buyer, are responsible for the shipping from there and all other fees associated with getting the goods to your country/address. EXW (Ex-Works) – also sometimes referred to as the Ex-Factory price. This basically means the cost of the product and nothing else! No shipping costs or export fees in China are included in this price, never mind local port and custom fees or delivery to your door. CIF – Cost, Insurance and Freight. In this case, the price also includes sea freight charges and insurance to deliver the goods to YOUR nearest port. But only to the port – from that point onwards, you take the shipment into your hands. CNF – Cost & Freight (or Cost, no Insurance, Freight). Similar to CIF only this time insurance is not included. DDP - Is a transaction where the seller (Manufacturer) pays for the total costs associated with transporting goods and is fully responsible for the goods until they are received and transferred to the buyer. This is the best type of shipping arrangement if your supplier is handling the entire shipment as they deal with everything for you. What do you need? (UK) Bill of Lading ⁃ Supplier (shipper) ⁃ Importer ⁃ delivery address ⁃ instructions ⁃ bill of lading number ⁃ Carrier name ⁃ Freight charge terms (FOB - CIF) ⁃ Commodity Description ⁃ Quantity Commercial Invoice ⁃ States value ⁃ For customs ⁃ For VAT Packing List / Shipping list / waybill /delivery list ⁃ Quantity, type of products Fee Breakdown Freight Forwarder - Total - £348 - Terminal Handling - £69 - Documentation - £100 - Co-Loader Fee - £30 - Customs Clearance - £45 - Pallet Fee x1 - £9.50 - Delivery to warehouse - £95 ——— Sea Shipping - Everything you need to know! Lithium Battery Shipping Restrictions

This video is about lithium battery shipping restrictions. To comply with regulations and keep our shipping as fast as possible, we only ship lithium batteries along with associated electronic equipment. The number of batteries we can ship is determined by the International Air Transport Association guidelines about battery strength. We recommend UPS Ground for larger purchases. ----------------------------------------- Visit the Adafruit shop online - http://www.adafruit.com Subscribe to Adafruit on YouTube: http://adafru.it/subscribe Join our weekly Show & Tell on G+ Hangouts On Air: http://adafru.it/showtell Watch our latest project videos: http://adafru.it/latest New tutorials on the Adafruit Learning System: http://learn.adafruit.com/ Music by bartlebeats: http://soundcloud.com/bartlebeats -----------------------------------------

How do I add a new product? How do I get a UPC? What is a FBA barcode? What warehouse do I send to? What is FBA? FBA means Fulfillment By Amazon. They have several warehouses throughout the US (and other countries too, like UK and others in Europe, India, Japan, and more). It allows Amazon to ship your products automatically via their Amazon Prime service, which is very fast shipping, like 1-2 days in the US now. So we don't have to hold or ship any of our inventory, it makes everything very passive. The TOTAL Amazon Selling fee via FBA is AROUND 30%, depending on the category and size. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: Rates, Delivery Time, Customs Forms & More

09:44
So you live outside the USA; maybe you’re from England, or the Ukraine or a really beautiful island somewhere in a beautiful part of the world…if that is the case, please invite us over for dinner. In the meantime, Let’s walk through the steps of your order together…. When you are purchasing your amazing new goodies, you may have noticed that the shipping rates are VERY LOW. This is because they are registering as USA ship-to prices…which is not accurate…because you’re not located in the USA. As a general guideline, International Shipping Rates are going to be around 3-4x higher than USA shipping rates. This is probably because your parcel has to cross a lot of water by plane or boat, and that is an expensive process…..not to mention, a lot of people have to work together to get that parcel to you, and those people probably want to be paid. Each box is going to cost you around $80 to $160. The rate will be based on how far you are from Michigan, the size of the box and its weight. While Canada is the cheapest place for us to ship to, Australia and Africa are the most expensive. Most countries only allow you to import a box about the size of a microwave through standard mail. This means that if you order a ton of stuff, it is going to take more than one box because it is virtually impossible to fit a ton of stuff into one medium-size box. We will never know the exact amount it will cost to ship your items to you until we pull them, package them, weigh them then enter your address into our Shipping Program. IMPORTING As an international buyer, it is important that you know your countries Importing Laws. Some countries are very strict on what you’re allowed to receive. Most countries do not allow flammables, this means, no aerosol hair spray, perfume, home fragrance spray or items containing a flammable amount of alcohol, but sometimes you’re allowed to buy these, if they are very small amounts. Believe it or not, some countries won’t allow you to import certain types of materials or, like in Japan, you are limited to the quantity of clothing you are allowed to import. The easiest way to find out your countries guidelines is to Google search your country name along with the words “importing regulations” or “prohibited items”. We do not review incoming orders to determine if the merchandise you are ordering is allowed into your Country. If you try to import items not allowed into your country, there is a strong chance that Customs will refuse, or, even worse, destroy your parcel. We do not offer any form of refund or credit for parcels refused or confiscated by Customs, so, please, do your research before you order. Our international buyers often ask us “When will my parcel arrive?” – great question! Your parcel will arrive when it has finished traveling across the world, going through numerous checkpoints and inspections and reaches its destination. sometimes parcels arrive in as little as 6 business days, other times it is 3 months . Unfortunately there is no way for us to make your parcel travel faster; BUT, it is important that you Add Insurance to your parcel because, in the event that the parcel is undelivered for over 30 days, we can file an investigation with the carrier. This will result in either your parcel being delivered OR a refund through the carrier. CUSTOMS FORMS: We are asked on a regular basis if we can lie and say the merchandise is only worth a dollar so our International Buyers can avoid paying taxes on the merchandise. While nobody likes paying taxes, it is actually not in your best interest to have the merchandise incorrectly valued because, in the event that the parcel does get lost or damaged, instead of getting back $200 or $400 or whatever you paid, your refund will be the worthless $1 that you said the items were worth….and that would make you angry…and sad…and when you’re sad, we are sad too. To make a long story short, we do not falsify Customs Forms. So, with all that in mind, if you’re looking to order a lot of stuff and save some money, one thing you can consider is to use a Freight Forwarder. A Freight Forwarder is a company located inside the USA that will accept the merchandise from us and literally, forward it to you. Each forwarder is going to have their own fees, but we have seen fees as low as $1 per pound plus $25 per transaction. If you wish to use a forwarder, simply contact us by email to let us know.

Rough seas for global shipping

01:23
When the shipping firm Hanjin went bust in September, $14bn worth of goods were stranded at sea. Discover how the shipping industry has faced strong headwinds since the financial crisis of 2008. The global shipping industry has been weathering rough seas for years. It is responsible for 90% of the world's traded goods but a price war over freight rates has hit the industry hard. The industry has suffered from an over supply of ships and stuttering commodity prices, sending a container from Shanghai to Europe costs half what it did two years ago. In late 2016, one of the world's biggest shipping companies, Hanjin, went bust. 66 ships loaded with $14.5 billion of goods, were left stranded at sea. One of the biggest costs is from hauling empty containers. In a bid to stay afloat shippers have begun to pool resources. In 2015 Maersk and MSC launched 2M, a partnership to share space on their vessels. Others might consider following suit. Of the 12 biggest companies that have published results for the last quarter, 11 announced huge losses.

How to Apply Epoxy on Shipping Container Floors for Container Homes 2018 | SHELTERMODE

09:03
In this video, we bring to you; How to Apply Epoxy on Shipping Container Floors for Container Homes 2018. Majority of shipping containers are fitted with one inch marine plywood floor made from tropical hardwood. The hardwood is used because it’s strong, durable and hard wearing to withstand the rough handling of cargo during the shipping process. Unfortunately most of these hardwoods are highly susceptible to attack by pests and insects. In order to meet global quarantine requirements for safe imports and exports, the timber floors have are treated with insecticides before they are fitted into shipping containers. The pesticides might not be hazardous to the goods being transported but may be harmful to humans. Shipping containers were designed to transport cargo and not for human habitation. In order to use shipping containers to construct a home, the original plywood floors may require some treatment. Step 4: Gather proof of ownership documents for Customs Gather proof of ownership documents for Customs. They must either be original or certified copies of the title. For a car owned by a third party, provide a notarized lien holder letter allowing the vehicle to leave the country. Step 5: Prepare your car for shipping Prepare your car for shipping. Have a mechanic check your brakes, battery, and exhaust system to make sure that it’s in good operating condition. Tip Remove anything that can be stolen, such as hubcaps, floor mats, and tools. They should be shipped with household goods. Step 6: Buy marine insurance Buy marine insurance for damages that may occur in ocean transit. An auto transport service’s insurance may not provide full coverage. Before buying marine insurance, check your existing auto policy to see if your car is covered. Step 7: Ship your car in a metal shipping container Ship your car in a metal shipping container for extra protection. Did You Know? Built in 2008, the Auriga Leader is a Japanese car carrier ship that is also the world’s first solar-powered ship.

Amazon FBA Private Label: EP9 - Shipping Your Products From Your Chinese Supplier To Amazon.

24:25
•Shipping Your Private Label Products From Your Chinese Supplier To Amazon• Now that you’ve researched your product and found a supplier, we need to talk about getting your product from your supplier to Amazon. Let’s get started! Before you wire the money to the supplier from Alibaba always be sure the company name you’re wiring the money to matches the name of the company you’ve been negotiating with. If it doesn’t, be sure to contact Alibaba about the discrepancy and use Trade Assurance for extra protection. Now that you’ve chosen a product and researched it, you’ve contacted suppliers and narrowed them down to one; here is what you need to do: Check if your product is going to be in a box or a poly bag. If it’s in a box you’re OK. If it’s a polybag, make sure it meets Amazon’s standards. If the bag is over 5 inches wide make sure you put a suffocation label. Suffocation Label: If you’re importing from China, make sure the product has been labeled as MADE IN CHINA. Make sure your product has a UPC if you’re going to be selling your products outside of Amazon. You don’t need a UPC printed on the product if you’ll only be selling on Amazon, although you will need the UPC number to get it listed. Amazon requires the FNSKU to be visible on the products. Amazon will provide you with a PDF file with these numbers; it’s recommended you have your designer incorporate those bar codes in the product’s packaging so you can save the costs of having Amazon apply the stickers for you. You will need to create a listing for your product on Amazon before you order the packaging from the supplier. Amazon will then provide you with the FNSKU and ASIN. You will need to give these to your supplier for the to apply on the packaging. It will typically take 15-20 days for the manufacturer to produce your products (longer on more custom orders), and it will take about 5 days to ship the products to you if you use express shipping. If you plan on registering your brand with Amazon, it is important you take the time to register your website domain and create a website for your brand. At this time you should also be optimizing your listing and making sure you have good titles, descriptions, bullet points, etc. An important decision you’ll have to make is how many products to order. Keep in mind that you’ll need at least an extra 50 to 200 units to give away or to sell at a deep discount in order to get a good number of reviews fast. Once you’re ready to ship your products to the U.S (or wherever your closest Amazon warehouse is), you can ship your products with express shipping, by air or by boat. Express shipping is the fastest, but most expensive. Shipping by boat is the most inexpensive, but it takes the longest. If you’re shipping by anything except express shipping, you might want to use a freight forwarding company to facilitate the process. We’ll cover freight forwarders in a future episode. ~Download the transcript for this episode: https://www.ampmpodcast.com//ep9-shipping-your-private-label-products-from-your-chinese-supplier-to-amazon/ *Outline of this episode of the AM/PM Podcast: 00:49 Episode Introduction 02:30 What you should always do before you pay your supplier from Alibaba 04:30 Manny goes through a checklist for the first order with a supplier 05:12 Making sure the packaging complies with Amazon’s requirements 09:55 What you should do while you wait for your first shipment to arrive 14:55 How many products should you order at first 16:00 How to ship your product from your manufacturer to the U.S. 18:18 The advantages of using a freight forwarder ҉ Links mentioned in this episode: Learn more at: https://www.ampmpodcast.com/ Connect with us: https://www.facebook.com/groups/AMPMPodcast/

US tells China to remove missile systems in South China Sea

US tells China to remove missile systems in South China Sea SUBSCRIBE my channel here: https://goo.gl/F8gn4Z G+ here: https://goo.gl/UzMJVe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- China has been warned by the United States to dismantle its missile systems shield deployed in the disputed Spratly Islands chain in the South China Sea. The move, believed to be the first time Washington has directly addressed the issue, came in a statement following high-level talks at last week’s second annual US-China Diplomatic and Security Dialogue. Trade tensions were expected to dominate the meetings in Washington. But it was the military buildup in the South China Sea which was brought into sharp focus during discussions between US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis and their opposite numbers, Beijing’s leading diplomat Yang Jiechi and Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe. “The United States called on China to withdraw its missile systems from disputed features in the Spratly Islands, and reaffirmed that all countries should avoid addressing disputes through coercion or intimidation,” the US statement said. Concerns have been growing among Southeast Asian nations and Washington that China was slowly establishing an air defense zone around previously uninhabited islands, reefs and atolls in one of the world’s most important sea lanes. US and allies Military bases have been constructed as Beijing flouts international law, claiming the islands are integral parts of China. The US and its allies have been told by President Xi Jinping’s administration to stop sending ships and aircraft near what the world’s second-largest economy considers to be sovereign territory. In response, Mattis has made it clear that the US will “fly, sail and operate wherever international law allows.” During the past year, the US and its allies have conducted maneuvers in the South China Sea, which is vital for global trade with goods and products worth between US$3 trillion and $5 trillion passing through vital sea routes. “The Chinese side made it clear... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He suggested the idea of building a grand tunnel from Japan all the way to Korea. Certainly a tremendous feat of engineering; and not just for that point in time. Over the next hundred years, through the various incarnations, and despite the numerous proposals, the project never moved beyond conception; today, as we know, there’s still yet to be a tunnel or bridge connecting the two countries. But the question is, for how long? Compared to air travel, having an accessible route by land is going to save people a lot of money, especially when sending goods; which is why most companies tend to use sea routes (though that’s still significantly more expensive than sending by land). The proposed tunnel would also serve a portion of the 20,000 people who travel daily between Korea and Japan. Ultimately, there would be an increase in economic activity for both countries, contributing to the economic development of the whole of East Asia Also: - Korea Strait - Channel Tunnel or Chunnel (longest undersea portion of any tunnel) - Seikan Tunnel (longest undersea tunnel overall) - 3 proposed routes for the Japan-Korea tunnel - Karatsu to Iki Island to Tsushima Island, then terminating at either Geoje Island or Yeongdu, Busan. - Port of Busan - Traveling from Tokyo to Seoul by land - Immense cost of JKUT - Viability of project - Historic psychological barrier - Japan & Korea war - Japanese invasion of Korea - Korean mistrust - Political & economic influence - UK & France history & similarities - European Union & East Asian Community - Island mentality - China's increasing influence - Tokyo, Seoul & Beijing route - North Korea's relevance - Trans-global highway - Human transportation, engineering & architecture

How To Ship Products From China & Avoid Unexpected Costs.

02:38
See more at: http://www.runningwithchina.com/how-to-ship-products-from-china-avoid-unexpected-costs/ Join Running With China's FB Fans: http://www.fb.com/runningwithchina -------------------- SUMMARY: -------------------- Hi Guys welcome back to quick tips from Running with China . Today we are going to talk about How To Ship Products From China and How To Avoid Unexpected Costs at Customs. We are going to take the example of an Amazon Seller. Say you find a profitable product on Alibaba and you have seen the sample, tested it and you are confident with the supplier, you’re going ship an order of 2000 pieces - small and light products, you want to ship it by air. So there are two things to consider when shipping from China. First, What's the cost of Shipping? Second, What is the duty rate that’s going to be applied and are there any customs clearance costs as well when the product arrives? So usually when you are shipping by air most of the stuff is taken care of by the Freight Forwarding Company as in your Express Company and they will charge you a Premium for that. But it's easy, simple and uncomplicated. So your duty rate is going be determined by the country you are going to ship in to, like US has a different duty rate for plastic phone cases compared to South Africa or Australia. Duty rates are all public information, and you can easily find out what the right duty rate is. Duty rate will be dependent on what you declare the value of your products. So if you have a phone case and you are buying it from china for 3 dollars, then you need to state that the product is worth 3 dollars, and you will be charged a duty rate on that. Some people might declare 1 dollar for their phone cases, you might be fine there but if you state that all these phone cases are only worth 5 cents, just because you don't want to the pay duty rate, that can trigger a RED FLAG with customs and they may assess you with a higher duty rate then you were expecting to pay. These are all the things, that need be taken into consideration and it’s very easy to find a freight forwarder or an express company that will take care of all the paperwork for you. Usually the Express Companies or Freight Forwarders will specialize in a region or types of products and they will know all the ins and outs. They charge a very small fee and they make everything very easy. My advice for people starting out: find a good Freight Forwarder or Small Express Company, set up a company account with them and rely on them to do most of the importing for you. - See more at: http://www.runningwithchina.com/how-to-ship-products-from-china-avoid-unexpected-costs/ -------------------- ABOUT RUNNING WITH CHINA -------------------- We are Jamon, Matt, and Terry (JMT), three Americans that have been living in China for a collective 30 years. Why LONG SHIPPING Times DON’T MATTER when Dropshipping with Aliexpress (ePacket China Shipping)

12:07
Stop worrying! Learn why long shipping times DON’T MATTER with Aliexpress dropshipping. ►► How to Make $10k/month Dropshipping: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step *** Videos Referenced*** How to Make More Money from an Aliexpress Shopify Store: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFMPAu_m1nA 6 Dropshipping Tips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgSiIbAuooc We get asked this question a lot here at Wholesale Ted: “What about long shipping times from China? Will customers be willing to wait?” “Why will people buy items with long shipping times from China if you can buy an item with fast shipping from Amazon?” ***Long Shipping Times DON’T STOP Customers from Buying*** If you are worried that the long shipping times from China when dropshipping with Aliexpress are going to stop customers from buying, and hurt your conversion rates… don’t be. This has been extensively tested. While it impacts the conversion rates a little, it doesn’t impact them by much. And the lower conversion rates are usually offset by the high profit margins on items shipped from China. If you have delayed creating your store because of this then STOP WORRYING because it DOESN’T MATTER! Selling on Amazon is very different to selling in an Aliexpress dropshipping store, which is why you can’t compare the two. On Amazon, customers primarily find items by using the search bar. They know what they want to buy and they are now comparing the different items to sell. It is a methodical process of comparing products. Customers will compare features, prices and shipping times when making their decision. If you build an Aliexpress dropshipping store right, people won’t be buying items because they have already decided to. Instead, they’ll be buying products from you because of emotions. Your goal should be to pick products that when the right person see’s it, it makes them feel something: “I really really love that!” “WOW - I need to buy that!” You aren’t trying to sell them items that they are already decided to buy. You are trying to sell them items that had not planned to buy, but once they see an ad for it, have a strong desire to buy because it appeals perfectly for them. In addition, you can use scarcity in your product ad and description to make the buyer feel like they are getting a great deal, so they won’t look at prices elsewhere. ***How to Overcome Downsides from Long Shipping Times*** There is a downside to long shipping times from China when dropshipping with Aliexpress - and that is customer service. While it doesn’t stop customers from buying, you will get an increase in emails from customers enquiring as to where their item is. Don’t be afraid or worried about this. When most customers email you, they just want a nice reply from someone who lets them know that it’s normal their item hasn’t arrived yet and that it will be there - they just need to be patient. As long as customers feel like you are real and care about them, you will calm them with excellent customer support. Rarely, you’ll get customers that will demand a refund. As long as you put a shipping disclaimer in your product copy, you do not owe them a refund. If they try and do a PayPal claim or a chargeback, you will win the dispute. That is why it is important to be upfront and honest about the shipping times. I recommend you bold this so customers don’t miss it. ***What is the Best Way to Ship from Aliexpress?*** I recommend you use ePacket exclusively when you dropship from China to the USA with Aliexpress. Epacket is a heavily discounted shipping option that is run at a loss. It is a shipping treaty between China and the USA to encourage customers in the USA to purchase more items from China. Shipments arrive within 10-20 days (2-3 weeks) and are extremely cheap, usually costing between $1-2 extra at most. In addition, ePacket includes tracking, so that you can see if a customer's item was truly lost in the mail, or if it was successfully delivered. This is also why I suggest you stick to suppliers based in the USA. The ePacket shipping option is different from other ePacket options offered to other countries (like Canada, UK, Australia & NZ). That is because the USA ePacket is run by the United States Postal Service, whereas the ePacket option offered to other countries is run by Hong Kong Post. The USA ePacket shipping is extremely efficient and works great - which is why I recommend sticking to the USA in the beginning and expanding out from there. So if you’ve been letting the long shipping times from China stop you from opening an Aliexpress dropshipping store, don’t: it doesn’t matter!

6 Real Ghost Ships?

12:03
Ghost ships and phantom ships have been getting sighted for hundreds of years and even to this day ghost and phantom ships get spotted quiet often! Subscribe to World5List http://goo.gl/cpJSA6 Find us on... -- http://www.boredbadger.com -- http://www.facebook.com/world5list As if the oceans were not scary enough by themselves now you have to worry about phantom ships roaming the waters. In the history of nautical travel captains around the world have noted seeing ships that they believed to be destroyed sailing across the ocean as if nothing had happened at all. Other crews have said that they have personally sunken a ship and then the next day watched it emerge from the fog and sail by them. Here we will look at a few ghosts ships that will make you think that Captain Jack & the Black Pearl are a little more than an exhausted Disney franchise. The SS Valencia This is a story that seems to be ripped directly from Pirates of the Caribbean. The SS Valencia was an American steamship that met its fate on January 20th, 1906 off the coast of Pachena Bay. The ship left with 157 passengers headed towards Vancouver Island. The ship made its voyage safely but it was its return trip that brought tragedy. The SS Baychimo The SS Baychino is the terminator of ghost ships. The steamship was built-in 1914 and was used as a cargo ship by the Hudson Bay Company. The ship was mostly used to transport goods such as tobacco, sugar down the Canadian coast. They also transported an inordinate amount of guns that we are sure the Canadians have no use for. But all those guns and ferried furs could not save the SS Baychimo from the icy fate that it met in 1931. Jenny The Jenny is one of the most infamous tales of a ghost ship. It first set sail in 1823 but was not seen again until 1840 trapped in the South Pole snow. A whaling ship had come across the boat and decided to board it as it seemed out-of-place. When they entered the ship they noticed that there seemed to be no one aboard. The ship had fallen into disrepair but much of the furniture and table settings were perfectly in place. Upon further investigation, the whalers found a truly horrifying sight when they entered the hull of the ship. The entire crew of the ship along with a woman and young boy were found dead. High Aim 6 One of the strangest modern-day ghost ships comes from Taiwan and was named the High Aim 6. The ship left the Southern Port of Taiwan in October on its way to an unknown destination. The ship's captain was last heard from in December when sending out a distress simply screaming about murder. The concerned coast guard sent out ships to search for the High Aim 6 but failed to find the ship. Honorable Mention The Mary Celeste The story of the Mary Celeste is surrounded by the most mysterious of circumstances. To this day there is no definitive explanation as to what happened to the captain and crew. The crew set sail in November of 1872 on its way to Italy. It should have taken just a short time for the ship to arrive in the harbor but after 8 days the shipping company became suspicious. They sent out a rescue party to search for the ship and that is exactly what they found, only they didn't find the crew, they had completely disappeared. Ourang Medan The accounts of this tale could be the basis for a horror story. The Ourang Medan was a Dutch Cargo ship active in the 1940s. The ship was sailing off the coast of Malaysia when it sent out a distress signal reading " "S.O.S. from Ourang Medan * * * we float. All officers including the Captain, dead in chartroom and on the bridge. Probably whole of crew dead * * *." A few moments later the final message read "I die". 2 American ships received the message and the Silver Star decided it would make the rescue attempt. Upon arriving at the ship the crew was surprised that the Ourang Medan was almost perfectly intact. These have been just a few of our favorite ghost ships that haunt the high seas. Let us know some of your favorite ghost ship stories.

How Millions of Microscopic Fibers Are Ending Up in Our Bodies | The Swim

06:17
Every day, billions of sharp, invisible fibers are making their way out to our oceans and air, and into our water, wine, beer, and cells. Read More How much plastic is your washing machine sending out to sea? https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2018/9/19/17800654/clothes-plastic-pollution-polyester-washing-machine "It’s no secret that too many of the plastic products we use end up in the ocean. But you might not be aware of one major source of that pollution: our clothes. Polyester, nylon, acrylic, and other synthetic fibers — all of which are forms of plastic — are now about 60 percent of the material that makes up our clothes worldwide. Synthetic plastic fibers are cheap and extremely versatile, providing for stretch and breathability in athleisure, and warmth and sturdiness in winter clothes." Will clothes companies do the right thing to reduce microfiber pollution? https://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2017/may/13/clothes-companies-microfiber-pollution "Over the past few years, evidence has been mounting that synthetic textiles such as polyester and acrylic, which make up much of our clothing, are a major source of pollution in the world’s oceans. That’s because washing those clothes causes tiny plastic fibers to shed and travel through wastewater treatment plants into public waterways. These microfibers are sometimes inadvertently gobbled up by aquatic organisms, including the fish that end up on our plate." 15 Ways to Stop Microfiber Pollution Now https://www.plasticpollutioncoalition.org/pft/2017/3/2/15-ways-to-stop-microfiber-pollution-now "Think about all your clothing made of acrylic, nylon, and polyester. Yes, that means fleece, trousers, blouses, socks, and even your beloved yoga pants. Did you know? Every time you wash these synthetic fabrics, millions of microfibers are released into the water. Microfibers are too small to be filtered out by waste treatment plants, so they end up in our waterways and oceans, where they wreak havoc on marine animals and the environment. Plastic fibers are now showing up in fish and shellfish sold in in California and Indonesia for human consumption. And one paper showed that microfibers are responsible for 85 percent of shoreline pollution across the globe. How can we stop this pollution?" ____________________ Ben Lecomte's historic swim across the Pacific Ocean is a feat that can’t be missed. 9 Crazy Discoveries About Ancient Vikings

10:12
From unbelievable fire technology and medicine to viking kings, here are 9 facts about the norse sea fairing Vikings. 9. Horned Helmets Walk into any frat party near Halloween and you can expect to see at least one “Viking costume” constructed of fur lined armor and a double horned helmet. Though a traditional costume, it is likely entirely historically inaccurate on many levels. Most noticeably: Vikings did not wear horned helmets. All helmets found from the time period they existed in are entirely horn free; instead, this odd belief actually probably came from depictions of Northern Europeans that existed far before the Vikings told by the ancient Greeks and Romans. These earlier groups wore horned helmets for ceremonial and religious reasons; the Greeks and Romans likely just lumped them together with the Vikings and combined their stories over time. 8. Nordic Fire Starter To survive the harsh Scandanavian winters, Vikings had to be able to build fires quickly and efficiently. Failing to spark flames meant no way to cook food or stay warm through the night; fire was quite literally a means of life or death in many instances. To help ensure their chances at success, the Vikings created a rather unique product to act as a fire starter. First, they would collect a fungus from tree bark called Touchwood. The bark was boiled for several days in urine then dry it and pound it into a felt like substance. This kindling would smolder and burn slowly, allowing them to quickly leave an area without snuffing their fire completely and acted as an accelerant due to its sodium nitrate levels. This simple -and gross- process simplified how Vikings set up camp and allowed them to move much more quickly, claiming lands at a faster rate than ever before. 7. Viking Funerals Viking men lived almost their entire lives at sea. It comes as no surprise that they would bury their loved ones in boats. A superstitious group, Vikings held it to be a great honor to be mummified, dressed in finery, and placed upon a ship at sea upon death; it is said that some ships would even be lit on fire to signify the passing of the deceased. This sort of burial was reserved only for distinguished warriors and noble women and would often also include sending valuable goods and sacrificed slaves with the ship to help guide the honoree into the afterlife. 6. Good Hygiene When you imagine a Viking, you like expect him to be rather gubby and perhaps smell pretty rank. Contrary to popular belief, Vikings actually had excellent hygiene practices for their time! Archaeologists have found razors, combs, tweezers, and ear cleaning devices during excavations. Vikings also bathed more frequently than other groups of the time. A stranger quirk, Vikings loved blonde hair and would occasionally wash their hair and beards with a strong soap made of lye to lighten it. The lye soap also did a health service in keeping lice and other issues at bay. When compared to other civilizations, the Vikings were both cleaner and much more well groomed than almost everyone else. 5. Religion Vikings worshipped many different gods and goddesses as part of the Pagan religion. The Vikings believed their gods to live in Asgard, a land of comfort that connected to Earth by a rainbow bridge. The gods and goddesses of Viking lore were turbulent beings and were commonly fighting, marrying, having children, committing adultery, and otherwise living very much like humans on Earth. The chief god, Odin, had two sons, Thor and Loki. Thor was the god of Thunder and carried a powerful hammer into battle; Loki, on the other hand, was a trickster and would cause chaos with the humans frequently. A sibling rivalry existed between the two and battles were common. The other gods also partook in competitions, always trying to prove their powers and abilities. 4. Viking Recipes Surprisingly, Vikings were well ahead of their time when it comes to culinary prowess. As seafaring people, Vikings often ate fish as a source of protein. They also grew vegetables such as peas, beans, and cabbage and grains like barley, rye, and oats. Cattle, pigs, goats, and fowl were often kept for their meat and hides. On top of their own form of domestic sustenance, the Vikings were amazing hunters and foragers, taking down such animals as bear, boar, and deer and bringing home wild nuts, fruits, and mushrooms to add to dishes. The Nordic Vikings picked up recipes from around the world and developed many flavorful dishes. They would use spices and salt to enhance flavors and berries to create sauces for meats. Fermented cabbage became a staple side dish or condiment and bread was often baked with honey and nuts as meal accents. The Vikings are often portrayed as savages but in reality, they were quite talented chefs and took care of themselves well. 3. Medicinal Attempts 2. A Viking King of England 1. HOW NOT TO BE SCAMMED: http://www.universalcargo.com/blog/7-tips-to-avoid-international-shipping-scams TRANSCRIPT Hello and welcome to Universal Shipping News, where we ask, “What the freight is going on with international shipping?” I am your host Demian Ross. In this episode we talk about a freight company that was busted for scamming and how China thinks it owns International waters. A shipping company called Medrano Express had its customers exclaiming, “What the freight?!” when it charged shippers for ocean shipping, marine insurance, and even customs fees to release cargo when it wasn’t even shipping their goods. A lawsuit was filed by 118 consumers that resulted in a Wake County Superior Court judge ordering Medrano to refund its customers, pay civil penalties, and banned the scam shipping company from operating in North Carolina. International shipping is a complex business that shippers shouldn’t try to navigate on their own. Unfortunately, there are individuals and companies that prey on shippers, scamming them like Medrano Express did. How do you avoid these scams? In Universal Cargo’s blog, we provided 7 tips to avoid being scammed when importing and exporting goods. One of the most important is not to make freight rate pricing your top deciding factor when choosing a company. Freight rates that seem too good to be true usually are, and could end up costing you in hidden fees, cargo delays, and even full-out international shipping scams that steal your money and your goods. You can get all 7 tips by visiting the blog or by clicking the link in the description of this video. Shippers who import and export to and from China are worried about their shipments for reasons other than the trustworthiness of the shipping company handling their cargo. The U.S. sent a warship through China-claimed waters in the South China Sea, and China is ticked! With over $5 trillion dollars in cargo shipped through the shipping lanes of the South China Sea every year, the sea is obviously extremely important to international shipping. But tensions are high in these waters as China, Vietnam, and the Philippines have been clashing over conflicting claims to parts of the sea. China has built artificial islands in the South China Sea complete with airstrips and deep-water ports, claiming territorial seas within 12 nautical miles around the islands. By sending a USS warship within 12 nautical miles of one of those islands, the U.S. is sending a clear message to China that its territorial claim on the sea is not accepted and that these waters are international waters. China says the actions of the U.S. are illegal, extremely irresponsible, and provocative. China had a guided-missile destroyer and naval patrol ship track the US warship through the waters. The Philippines and Vietnam allowed the United States’ move, seeing this as restoration of balance in their conflict with China in the South China Sea. The U.S. plans to continue sending warships through the water and shippers are left worrying if this will affect trade between the two countries—trade that is so important to both China’s and America’s economies. Bordering Chaos: $14 Billion In Cargo Stranded at Sea, Crews Go Crazy On Hanjin Ghost Ships

03:23
http://undergroundworldnews.com The fallout from last week's historic bankruptcy of one of the world's biggest shipping lines, Hanjin Shipping, continued with little resolution with as much as $14 billion worth of cargo stranded at sea according to the WSJ, sending cargo owners scurrying to try to recover their goods and get them to customers. Since Hanjin's bankruptcy protection filing, dozens of ships carrying more than half a million cargo containers have been denied access to ports around the world because of uncertainty about who would pay docking fees, container-storage and unloading bills. Some of those ships have been seized by the company’s creditors. As Bloomberg adds, 85 Hanjin ships that have been effectively marooned offshore as ports in the U.S., Asia and Europe have turned the company’s ships away. The worry is that Hanjin ships won’t be able to pay port fees or their contents might be seized by creditors, which would disrupt port operations. The global shipping disruption comes just as companies are shipping merchandise to fill shelves and warehouses for the end-of-year holiday season. Lithium batteries are the hottest topic in hazmat transportation today and the Federal Aviation Administration is aggressively enforcing penalties against employers who incorrectly offer them for transport (up to $77,114 per violation). To make matters worse, the shipping regulations are notoriously convoluted and confusing, and since their inception, have been continually changing. This presentation provides an overview of the regulatory requirements and enforcement trends, including the April 1, 2016 ICAO/IATA revisions.
