Modern C++ Boilerplate talk by Arthur O'Dwyer

01:15:00
Fresh from C++Now 2015, Arthur O'Dwyer presents "The Rule of Seven, plus or minus two: Modern C++ Boilerplate." C++98 had the Rule of Three (or was it Four?). C++11 has the Rule of Five — or Six, if you count the default constructor — or Seven, if you count swap(). Should swap() be a member function? When is a default constructor absolutely mandatory? When is noexcept required for good performance? Should our classes support self-assignment and self-move? When is =default different from empty braces? We'll delve into these questions and more. Arthur O'Dwyer spent five years in the compiler group at Green Hills Software. Besides C++Now, he has presented at CppCon 2014 and Silicon Valley Code Camp. He currently works for Mixpanel in San Francisco. http://www.meetup.com/SF-Bay-Area-Cpp/events/222524277/

HTML5-Workshop: HTML5 Shim, Polyfills, Boilerplate, ...

34:52

CppCon 2015: Titus Winters "Lessons in Sustainability...”

01:09:34
http://www.Cppcon.org — Lessons in Sustainability: How to Maintain a C++ Codebase for Decades -- Presentation Slides, PDFs, Source Code and other presenter materials are available at: https://github.com/cppcon/cppcon2015 — Google maintains (we believe) the largest monolithic C++ codebase in the world with over 100M lines of C++ code. Early commits to this repository date back to the late 1990s. About 4000 engineers submit at least one change in C++ every week. We’ve learned a few things about what it takes to maintain a codebase at this scale. In this talk I’ll present some of the lessons we’ve learned over the years with respect to policies, technology, education, design, and maintenance of a long-lived monolithic codebase. — Titus Winters has spent the past 4 years working on Google's core C++ libraries. He's particularly interested in issues of large scale software engineer and codebase maintenance: how do we keep a codebase of over 100M lines of code consistent and flexible for the next decade? Along the way he has helped Google teams pioneer techniques to perform automated code transformations on a massive scale, and helps maintain the Google C++ Style Guide. — Videos Filmed & Edited by Bash Films: http://www.BashFilms.com

Building a responsive grid with CSS Grid

05:48
Wanna learn more? Get the full course: https://bit.ly/2Pv0g8T React isn't just for experts in the industry, in fact beginners should start with React, as it is truly the easiest way to build apps. The create-react-app project is an amazing boilerplate to rapidly build apps. You no longer need to stress about Webpack, build tools, etc. This is all taken care of with the only starter project you need: create-react-app. Every line of code is walked through, as the project is built from scratch with no steps skipped or time wasted. You'll see how quickly things get done with the power of styled-components, the latest advancement in the CSS-in-JS paradigm. With HighCharts, we'll show you how to run HighCharts with React, and customize the theme to fit our project. Complex data modifications to our favorites entail a strict knowledge of the state flow, and so we must take care to explain every aspect of how maintaining our React state is important, and only clean variables are created. The developer runs into errors, as do all developers, so you'll get to see how these are fixed, and avoided in the future. We don't just paste code in, we rebuild from scratch, as you would. The Webkit Inspector is included in all screen shares, so you can see how we debug, as we should always be debugging, logging, and inspecting our code as we write it. If you have any questions at all, please reach out. We are happy to help respond to all issues relating to your journey. Best of luck with CryptoDash, I know you'll love this project. Who is the target audience? Anyone from complete beginners in web development to experts looking to build the provided project.

drop-down menu boilerplate - rollover menu for Excel 2010

00:43
The Drop-down Menu boilerplate allows you to have a drop-down menu in Excel 2010 that resembles a Javascript or jQuery type style menu like you see on lots of Websites. This is made possible through the use of the ''rollover'' technique first blogged and demonstrated by Jordan Goldmeier and Chandoo. I modified the technique further through the use of ''nested'' IF statements in the HYPERLINK Formula and a ''replica'' grid written out dynamically for every rollover. With some nifty Named Ranges and Cell protection the effect is pretty amazing and extremely slick. As soon as you add a HYPERLINK using formula it appears that Excel begins tracking the Mouse enabling you to make use of the technique - that's how the ''rollover'' works. Update: 30.12.2013 Please Note: this Drop-down Menu has now been replaced by Delicious. You can download the latest version here: http://www.kubiszyn.co.uk/delicious.html Please also check out my latest XY Adaptive Rollover technique here: http://www.kubiszyn.co.uk/rollovers.html Deprecated Code & Examples Help Guide http://www.kubiszyn.co.uk/delicious/index.html Direct Download: http://www.kubiszyn.co.uk/delicious/Delicious.zip

Google Launches Web Starter Kit, A Boilerplate For Multi-Screen Web Development

00:50
For a long time now, Google has offered developers a set of what it believes are best practices for modern web development. Today it is going beyond just providing this information by launching the Web Starter Kit, a boilerplate kit similar to HTML5 Boilerplate that includes templates and tooling for getting multi-screen web apps up and running quickly. Google says the templates are optimized for performance and responsive layouts to help developers quickly write multi-device web experiences. It essentially implements the recommendations Google has been giving developers already and packages them into actual code with the necessary tooling to get apps off the ground fast. http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/Techcrunch/~3/yecYAk_UZbY/ http://www.wochit.com
