If you've ever found yourself needing to cook while backpacking in the rain and didn't have a Vestibule on your tent, this is the video for you. Using a Sea To Summit Nylon Poncho Tarp I show how to quickly set up a vestibule in front of your tent for cooking and to store any wet/muddy gear.
I just recently got a Big Agnes Pioneer 2 pup style tent https://youtu.be/wzMtUb-SUMU that is perfect for my needs except there is no vestibule. So, I used my Sea To Summit Nylon Poncho tarp to make a quick and light weight vestibule. Really, any small tarp will work and I've even used the Walmart 5x7 Outdoor Products Nylon tarp on my old Texsport Pup Tent and kept nice and dry while cooking 2 meals.
This can easily be set up in under 3 minutes using 3 stakes or sticks, 1 toggle and 2 or 3 feet or cordage.
The Sea To Summit Poncho Tarp is 59"x104" and only weights 13 oz. which makes it my go to wet weather gear. Since it covers me and my pack I always carry it. Because it also doubles as a tarp its perfect for adding an awning to your tent or using it to reinforce the fly of your tent during bad rainy weather. I've used it several times to make a front porch on my tents to cook under and store my gear.
