How Do I Pack for a Business Trip?

02:45
Hello I’m Alan Whitfield with Harry Rosen. We often get asked about how to pack for a 2 to 3 day business trip. With a little planning you can travel light, especially if you take advantage of your hotel laundry service. Last minute packing generally leads to overpacking and wrinkled clothes. Instead take a moment to study your agenda to determine how many meetings and social occasions you expect to have. What we have laid out here represents a typical wardrobe for 2 to 3 days, assuming you’re also wearing an outfit on the plane. You’ll notice that all of these items can be coordinated with each other. The jacket and trousers can be dressed up or down. No one wants to check luggage. A good carry on and sturdy garment bag like these will carry everything you need. The hanger on a garment bag can take up to three pairs of trousers if your trip requires a longer stay. Place your jacket on top, cover it in dry-cleaner’s plastic, and push out any big air bubbles to prevent wrinkles. If a longer stay is requires you can layer on another jacket and more dry cleaner plastic. The first items in your carry on should be your shoes. Pack them heel down evenly across the floor of the bag to provide a good foundation for the rest of your items. Use the belts and socks as shoe trees to support your shoe’s shape. Use your shoes’ duster bags to protect your shoes and keep your other clothes clean. Now, fill in the gaps with your sunglass case, rolled underwear, t-shirts, and sweatshirt & pants. Try to make the base as flat and even as possible. You can either roll your ties and pack them into the gaps or fold them in four and insert them into the inside pocket of your jacket. Avoid placing them between shoes so that they don’t get pinched and wrinkled along the way. Overtop place your knits and shirts folded from the launderer. Plan on wearing your overcoat on the plane to avoid unnecessary weight on your dress shirts. One of the key tricks to wrinkle free packing is to make sure you unpack and hang everything the moment you arrive at your hotel. If you’re room’s not ready ask the concierge to hang your garment bag for you. You’re all ready to go. Thank you and safe travels.

How to Expense Business Travel

04:14
How would you like to take a fabulous trip to an exotic destination and have Uncle Sam pay the bill when you return home? No, it’s not an illegal scheme that will get you in trouble, but a clever hack that allows you to travel around the world for practically nothing. When it comes to traveling, entrepreneurs have the ability to mix business and pleasure. And, here’s the beauty of it: you don’t have to be the CEO of a fancy startup to benefit from tax deductions on your travel expenses. You can turn your blog or passion for photography into a business and write off expenses. For example, if you’ve set up a business for you travel blog, now you can go anywhere in the world and file all expenses on your taxes as a business expense. After all, you’re going there for business reasons – to create new content for your blog. If you’re new to the business world, complying with the tax code may feel like navigating a maze. But, it becomes less complicated once you know what you can write off and what not. For starters, you must ensure that the primary reason for your trip is for business. Otherwise, it would be hard to justify a 7-day trip to the Bahamas when you only have one day of meetings. A clever trick would be to count up the number of business and personal day on your trip. Keep in mind that the majority of days should be for business activities. For example, you could fly to the Bahamas on Thursday, have a meeting on Friday, stay and enjoy the weekend, meet with other clients on Monday and Tuesday, and fly back home one Wednesday. Another thing that you should keep in mind is that you can’t just fly to the Bahamas with a stack of business cards in your wallet and call it a business trip. According to the IRS, you need to have at least one business meeting scheduled before you leave. Otherwise, you won’t be able to write off your expenses. Which Expenses Are Deductible? Here are some of the business travel expenses you can write off your tax bill: Transportation Costs You can deduct 100% percent of your transportation costs, whether we’re talking about bus, car or air travel. Be careful, though: you need to choose the appropriate option to be able to deduct your taxes. While flying first class is admissible, you don’t get away with deducting a two-week cruise you took to arrive at a business meeting. Also, keep in mind that according to the IRS, your home is your regular place of business. So, if you work between Monday and Friday in New Hampshire and fly to South Carolina to be with your family during the weekend, you can’t deduct your travel expenses. Lodging You can claim your accommodation entirely. Don’t forget to ask for an itemized bill when you check out from your hotel. Some costs, like movie rentals or goods from the mini bar, might not be eligible for tax deduction. Meals You can deduct 50% of the cost of meals related to your business travel needs, tips and tax included. If you’re meeting with a client over dinner, you will have to document what business related topics you’ve discussed to pass the audit. Other Expenses Other costs that you can write off include conference fees, equipment rental, dry cleaning and laundry, shipping luggage, business calls, renting a location for a presentation, and registration fees. You can’t deduct the following expenses from your taxes: Family travel costs: You can bring your family with you on a business trip, but don’t expect to be able to write off their expenses. Sure, you can deduct your hotel room because you would have stayed there whether they were with you or not, but you can’t write off their transportation costs and meals. Expenses in your city: You can’t rent a hotel room in your town and expect Uncle Sam to pay for it. Personal extensions to business trips: If your trip was primarily for business, but then you decided to extend your stay and bring your family along, you can only deduct your business-related days. Your daily commute: Transportation to and from your office can’t be write off as a business expense. Lavish meals: Paying $400 for a bottle of wine and ordering only fancy food will probably get the attention of the IRS. Any unreasonable expense: if you can’t justify it, don’t put it on your tax deduction documents. How To Pack A Carry-On Suitcase For A Short Business Trip - Packing Tips & Hacks From a Travel Pro

07:44
Pack your carry on like a PRO: https://gentl.mn/how-to-pack-a-carry-on Travelling for a longer period of time? https://gentl.mn/2Dq8tpF SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Two-Tone Knit Tie in Black and Magenta Pink Changeant Silk - https://gentl.mn/2kBW7VE 2. Burgundy Silk Pocket Square with little Paisley Motifs - https://gentl.mn/2yVfdbF 3. Blue Socks with Red and White Clocks - https://gentl.mn/2ycUuT8 First of all, if you go with air travel, I suggest you go with a spinner suitcase with nice wheels that roll very easily so you can maneuver it very easily, but it should also be stable so you can put a little briefcase or another carry-on item on top of it while you walk with it. Packing a small carry-on suitcase is very different from packing a larger spinner suitcase, so if you want to see how a larger one is packed please check out this video here. So how do you pack a small carry-on suitcase? First of all, put out all the items you want to bring on your trip onto your bed or maybe on the floor if the bed is not large enough. Remove all excessive items and only bring the bare bones you really actually need. If it's just a one-day business trip, you simply need one pair of shoes, and I simply suggest to wear it. If it's a two or three-day business trip, you want to bring another pair of shoes but that's it. I always suggest to go with black cap toe Oxfords, maybe Balmoral ones that add a little decoration, if you have very big feet, maybe a derby shoe is the way to go. First, let's start with the pants. You want to fold them in thirds because that way, it fits into your suitcase. lay that on the flat side of your carry-on suitcase. In this video, I'm using a small houndstooth suit simply so you can see better how I fold it. If you got a business trip, probably a solid navy suit, or charcoal, or light gray, or gray suit, are the better way to go. Second, if you have a three-piece suit with the vest, you simply take the vest, fold it in half and make sure the top ends align, as well as the bottom tips of the waistcoat, then you simply just roll it up. Again, you have a nice little fabric roll, now put the roll aside. Now, it’s time for the jacket. Take the left sleeve and pull it inside out, make sure to pull it all the way through. Now on that same sleeve, go to the shoulder and push it, and fold it inside out, this creates the perfect shape and it fits right into the opposite shoulder that wasn't folded. We do this to protect the shoulder so doesn't get crushed and wrinkled. Now take the rolled-up waistcoat, and stuff it into the shoulder area so it gives it additional support and prevents it from wrinkling. Now you fold up the jacket so it lays neatly in the case on top of the pants. Usually, there's a little gap on top of the shoulder, I use that to roll up some ties and ideally, knit ties because they're less prone to getting wrinkles. Now, it's time to close that compartment and let's look at the other side of the suitcase. The socks, underwear, and undershirt, that didn't fit into my shoes now go in between the telescope mechanism so we create a somewhat flat surface. I put in the shoes sideways so they use up as little space as possible. Maybe if you want to bring a sweater or a cardigan, now is the time to put it in here. If you want to bring a long sleeve polo shirt for a casual evening outing, I usually roll it rather than folding it because a. it's quicker, b. it saves me space and c. it's not prone to wrinkling as much as let's say a dress shirt. If you want to bring any other folded items such as a t-shirt, an undershirt, I would roll those as well. Once you've put all the things in, it's time to fill the gaps. Maybe you want to bring suspenders, they should be rolled up and you can stuff them in a gap. Usually, somewhere around the shoes, with a belt, you can also roll it up but if you don't have enough space anymore, you can simply unroll it and lay it around the edges, that way, you'll maybe fit even more things into your suitcase. #howtopackacarryon #travel #howtopack -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? English Travel Vocabulary: Planning a Trip

07:08
http://www.engvid.com Are you going to travel? Make sure you're prepared with the vocabulary you will need for your business trip or vacation. In this lesson, I'll teach you the English vocabulary you must know for travel -- from preparing your travel itinerary and making reservations, to getting your visas and boarding your flight. It is essential that you know this basic English travel vocabulary, because English is an international language. ESL students who are studying abroad will find these words very helpful. Even if you are not travelling to an English-speaking country, as a tourist, you will need to communicate with people at the airport, and at tourist attractions. Watch this lesson, take the quiz, and have a safe trip! http://www.engvid.com/english-travel-vocabulary-planning-a-trip/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. Welcome again to www.engvid.com. My name is Adam. Today, I'm talking about a very interesting topic because, for example, in Toronto right now, it's very, very cold. I'm thinking about travelling; I would love to go somewhere hot to get away from this winter. So, when I travel, I have, of course, to make travel arrangements. So here, we have a list of words, a list of things that you must think about before you go on a trip to a different country. We're going to go over each of these. We're going to start with "booking" and "reservation". Now, many people think that this is more or less the same, which it is. To book something or to reserve something means to keep a place, to keep your place. You book a flight, you book a hotel room. Generally speaking, you make a reservation at a restaurant; you make a booking with a travel agency or with a hotel, with accommodations, any type of accommodation. Speaking of, accommodations are hotel, motel, hostel, B&B, bed and breakfast; all kinds of accommodations. Make sure you have a booking before you go, so your place is safe, it's kept for you. When you arrive, it's all good. Next, when you're at your destination, the place you're going to, you might want to "rent" a car. Okay? Sorry, this is accommodation. One thing I wanted to also make sure - "accommodations", without the "s", "accommodation" means something different. Okay? "Accommodations" is where you're going to sleep. And you might want to "rent" a car. You can also "hire" a car. Means the same thing. British people generally use "hire" more, North Americans use "rent" more often. Next, you have to think about your "baggage". Suitcase, luggage, bags, anything you're carrying with you. You might have "check-in baggage". Sorry, I don't know if you can see this guy. "Check-in baggage" and "carry-on baggage". "Check-in baggage" means you give it to the airline, they put it under the plane, you pick it up at your destination. "Carry-on" means you carry on, so you carry it on your shoulder on to the plane. Okay? In your carry-on, you have to be careful, it has to be small. You can't have liquids because of security and all that stuff. So things that you can't put in your carry-on, you must put in your check-in baggage and give to the airline. Next, when you get to the airport, assuming you're flying, you will have to do a few things that concern the word "boarding". Before you board your plane, get on your plane - you will get a boarding pass that lets you pass through security and into the airport. On the boarding pass, you will see your "boarding time", this is when you get on the plane and your "boarding gate", the place in the airport where you're going to get on your plane before takeoff. Okay? We can also use this for a train. You board a train, you get a boarding pass with a boarding time, and generally a boarding platform. Okay? So "boarding", getting on your vehicle, whatever vehicle that might be. You will also generally need to get a "visa" to many countries. Now, a "visa" is something that you use to get into a country, it gives you permission to stay in that country. But be aware: many places, if you're going through another country... So, for example: I'm going to country "C" via country "B". "Via" means by way of or through. So I might need a "transit visa", means I can go there, switch planes and keep going on my journey. But I'm still in another country, I need a transit visa. Excuse me. Also, make sure you're prepared to spend money as soon as you get to your destination. If you're going to a different country, that country will but using a different "currency", type of money. In Canada, we have Canadian dollar. America has American dollar. Okay? For things like that. In Europe, you need the euro. So make sure you have some of the currency before you go, or purchase it at the airport or at the destination you're going to.

Trench Coat Guide: https://gentl.mn/2qCkind How To Pack A Suitcase For A Business Trip: https://gentl.mn/2qEpGFD What To Wear To An Interview: https://gentl.mn/2H74Ee8 16 Overcoat DO’s & DON’Ts: https://gentl.mn/2H70bno First of all, it starts with a choice of the right suitcase or carry-on. Personally, I'm a big fan of wheels especially four wheels, not the two wheels, because you can easily maneuver them with one hand. Also, I prefer stiffer suitcases so I can put it back on top of it without it collapsing on me. So when you start packing, I suggest to first lay everything out on your bed or maybe on a carpet, on a clean space where we have a good overview. So what shoes to bring for a business trip? Black is the ultimate color. I suggest you go with a black cap toe Oxford. Alternatively, you can also go with a black oxford half brogue or black oxford quarter brogue. A little bit of broguing makes it a little less formal, at the same time, it's perfectly appropriate for everything. Now the second pair to bring is a dark red or oxblood burgundy colored dress shoe. It could either be a tassel loafer and you could travel with that because it's easy to take on and off when you're through security or you could go with a Derby shoe or maybe even an oxford. Next up, I suggest bringing two to three dress shirts. Even if you're just going on a one day trip, there's always a chance that someone will spill something on you and it's much better to have something that you can change into than having to figure out where you can have it dry-cleaned. Next up is a suit. There's probably no other garment that is more business appropriate than a dark suit. If you have to pick one, I suggest to go with a navy worsted suit, ideally single-breasted with notch lapels, either one button or two buttons, side vents, maybe some cuffs at the bottom of pants so they pull down the pants and prevent any potential wrinkles. In terms of weight, I'd go for a three-season weight. If you want just one all-rounder, you can also opt for something with an open weave. That way, you feel the breeze because sometimes when you're in an office environment, it can get quite hot but you know yourself if you're likely to overheat or if you feel cold all the time. When it comes to accessories I think a necktie is essential especially in a classic business environment. If you're a little more flamboyant or if you are maybe independent or in an area where dress codes are a little more relaxed, you can also go with a bow tie, otherwise, I suggest to stay with a classic necktie. A pocket square can really help to make your outfit look more polished. So if you have a white shirt, a white linen pocket squarw especially in a TV fold or a crown fold, it can add a finishing touch. You can find a selection of all kinds of pocket squares as well as regular neckties and bow ties in our shop here. When it comes to cufflinks I suggest to go with a simple pair such as a monkey fist knot cufflink in silver gold. Skip the colored enamel cufflinks as well as the gemstone or diamond cufflinks. Next up is a toiletry kit. I suggest keeping a small bag that you can easily remove at any point in time because sometimes at security, you have to remove it depending on your status. To save on space, definitely go with travel sized items and don't bring your regular size aftershave shaving cream or toothpaste. So last but not the least, something that you don't pack but I suggest you always bring is either a type of overcoat in the winter. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? What I Do for Work: 6-Day Business Trip

11:16
A lot of people wonder if I ever work on my business trips, since all I ever post are fun adventures on YouTube and beautiful scenery on Instagram. So I vlogged my entire business trip to the South. I'm really proud of the sunrise run at 3:05, so if you only watch one part of this video, let that be it. If you watched the whole video, write your favorite color in the comments below. You'll see there's a lot of repetition. It basically goes like this: 1. Find the store 2. Observe and train 3. Find food 4. Train the rest of the day 5. Instagram mission 6. Find more food 7. Sleep 8. Repeat I used lots of music. It's all royalty free from YouTube's Audio Library. Most of the video: "Payday" by Jason Farnham Sunrise in Myrtle Beach: "Close My Mouth" by Silent Partner Driving: "Do Do Do" by Silent Partner Midnight Star Instagram mission: "Dub Trubble" by Silent Partner Preview of Grand Cayman video: "Alternate" by Vibe Tracks (Cayman Boating Adventure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oh2NFt1jTiI) Many thanks to Del Sol/Cariloha for making my life possible. How to pack light for a business trip

03:39
Subscribe to channel https://goo.gl/wSXFlV Visit website http://tracygold.co.za When you pack for a business trip, do you tend to just through a few things in and hope for the best or pack half your wardrobe…..just in case? In this video, I will show you how to pack light and save you time. It’s important to have all the things you need to create a look that makes you look good and feel confident. 1. What are you going to be doing on your trip. i.e. giving a presentation, working one-on-one with clients, will you be on your feet a lot or are you likely to be seated. 2. Choose one good basic colour. This narrows down your focus and makes it easier to pack. For example, you can select black, brown, navy etc. Decide on a jacket and shoes that match in colour. Make sure whatever you choose to pack, goes with your jacket and your shoes. Pack one extra pair of shoes… just in case. 3. Select mix and match options. This will give you loads of wear without having to take some many things with you. Business Travel Tips: Packing & Flying

01:31
Packing for a business trip is tedious - especially if you do it often. Here are our tips for a stress-free carry-on business trip. More travel & packing tips: http://bit.ly/packsmith ---- Business Travel Tips: Packing & Flying * Pack neutrals, particularly for basics. * Don't overpack your basics. You only need one jacket. Mix up your look with everything else. * Skirts pack smaller than jackets, if you need multiple basics. * Low heeled ankle boots go with everything. * Do you really need your laptop? Can you get by with a tablet? * Your personal item = your everyday item for your trip. Make sure it'll fit under the seat AND hold your essentials (like your tablet and phone). ---- About Tortuga Backpacks: We make gear for urban travel. In 2009, our co-founders backpacked through Eastern Europe. The trip was a blast, but our backpacks were a disaster. The perfect travel backpack didn't exist. So we made it.
