Hey guys, this is Luisito Comunica, travel vlogger from Mexico.
What has been your favourite thing about Dubai?
My favourite experience in Dubai – you can do anything you want in the middle of the desert. They even have a skiing rink, with penguins and everything. That’s crazy!
What city has impressed you the most?
The city that has impressed me the most… I would have to say Caracas, Venezuela. So, they’re going through a crisis right now. I was there last year, and it’s quite impressive to go there. You sort of live in a different reality.
What was your most surprising experience with food in a foreign country?
My favourite food experience have been in China, no doubt. It’s always a surprise what you’re gonna get, because they eat so many different things and so… it’s always a surprise, let me tell you, it’s always impressive. I remember this one time I ordered a bowl of rice, it looked really delicious in the picture. So the chef comes along to my table and he starts preparing it – so he puts the peanuts, he puts the vegetables, he puts the meat, it looks really delicious. And right at the end he pulls out a bowl of worms, you know, like insects, and pours it right onto the rice. I was quite shocked, let me tell you. But I had to eat it all – I was in China, I had to learn something different.
A place where you’ve made local friends?
I like to make local friends pretty much anywhere I go, anywhere I travel. I’d have to say the best local friends that I’ve made have been here in Dubai. I’ve made really cool friends and they are really open to show you around, show you what you can do, so yeah, it’s been really fun.
Where have you had an unexpected travel experience?
So an interesting travelling story, I would have to say maybe three or four months ago I tried to go to Bangladesh to make some videos about the country, the things you can do there… Overall, when I arrived there I didn’t have the documents necessary to really get in the country so they didn’t let me in. I spent around two days in the airport until they told me, “No, you cannot go in, you have to go back.” So yeah, that was an interesting experience, no doubt.
What’s the most important thing to keep in mind when travelling to a new country?
When you travel to a new you have to keep in mind that you are going to see some really different things than what you’re used to. You have to be open to new experiences, new cultures… And always keep in mind you are not in a place to judge what other people, what other cultures, do. You are just there as a visitor to learn new things and experience a different reality for a short time.
What do you always carry with you on your travels?
The things that I always carry with me on my travels all the time. I would have to say of course my camera, of course my cell phone. Lots and lots of memory cards to shoot as long as I want. My laptop to edit my videos and upload them, and if they have that service in the country that I’m visiting, a dongle so I can connect my laptop and have internet, like anywhere. I’ve had some rough experiences with internet in hotels that I cannot upload the videos so I try to keep it on the safe.
What’s your advice for aspiring vloggers?
To aspiring vloggers that are just starting out I would have to say be really consistent – consistence is key to grow on internet platforms. Try to do always something different to keep the audience interested, and overall have fun. Make sure you have fun making the videos, making the vlogs – don’t push it too hard, don’t stop being yourself. Just keep it real.
If you weren’t doing this, what do you think you’d be doing?
If I wasn’t making videos on the internet, I’d probably be working at a magazine, at a publishing house, maybe an advertising agency… something related to communications and to making videos and photos, for sure I would be doing that.
Which places are on your bucket list?
Place on my bucket list? The whole world – actually outside of the world. If you ask me, my biggest dream is to go to outer space and make some awesome videos there! I mean, my bucket list is enormous, it’s the whole world, outside of the world.
